- Amnesia opening times -

Does Amnesia have neighbors that it has to worry about disturbing? I don't get why there is any kind of curfew as long as they aren't disturbing anyone.

there are actually people living rather close by. but that's not the point. the law is the same for all clubs, no matter their location. the days of weekly music on sessions until 10am seem definitely over, at least for now

right, in case you haven't seen, amnesia have just made a statement about opening hours for their opening on saturday. they were denied a late closing as they normally have for opening, so they will open the terrace at 4pm already and the main room at midnight. party stops at 6am.

I had heard a rumor about that a while ago and think they *might* apply the same trick a few times this summer. I'm although really hoping they'll get the license for a proper late closing for their closing party at the end of the season.
 
What do you think this means for the rest of the season Stivi? Cocoon opening on Monday for example regularly exceeds that time considerably. I'm quite fearful for Amnesia now...

I know all other clubs are "mean't" to shut at 6/7am but there are a lot of times where that rule is broken.

probably for a while at least they have to abide by the 6am closing.... they pushed the envelope too far last summer with late closing times and now they are paying the price.

I honestly think we have to see about that as the season evolves. I think that what cool1g said above makes sense. that said, I also cannot see them closing at 6:00am all summer when the official closing time is 06:30am. I stick to what I have been saying for more than half a year now - I think currently we have to forget about music on sessions until 10am. but how much they can push it without getting penalized/fined again...that's what only time can tell.

it's true that lots of other venues also close later every now and then, but a) it's never been as regular as it was in the case we're discussing and b) it wasn't by that many hours. I think it does make a difference if you're taking it 1hr past time or 3-4hrs past time.
 
If you actually exclude MusicON and opening / closings from this discussion, who else has really taken the piss in terms of 3/4 hours over time? What was the latest Cocoon finished last year? 9AM?

just music on really, but every single week. cocoon mostly closed somewhere between 7:30 and 8:30 during the season. and there are parties at other clubs that also finish in that bracket every now and then and then nothing really happens.

I always assumed (maybe wrongly) that they cared less about a 10AM finish on a Saturday (I.e MusicOn) than a 10AM on a week day. Any truth in that?
 
Hmm yeah disappointing news. Can't see the early opening working at amnesia with no outdoor space to work with and also with cocoon they would be up against circo loco....not been to music on myself so can't say I'll miss the 10am finish but a solid 8am close at cocoon will be missed.
 
Opening early at Amnesia given it's all indoor seems a strange one but we will see in the coming weeks how it works out.

I do wonder if Amnesia will do the late Music On sessions a few times and hope they're not caught. None of us will complain about late finishes that's for sure, if were enjoying it, having something end is the worst bit!
 
I think it would be cool to go to Amnesia in the afternoon, but this change is either gonna badly affect DC-10 or Cocoon!! A lot of people would have done DC-10, then gone to Cocoon afterwards, knowing that even at 2/3am, you're still getting a good amount of time in Cocoon...

So either, DC-10 will be a lot less busier (people go to Amnesia for the afternoon terrace session), or Cocoon won't be busy (everyone just goes to DC-10 and stays there)...

I'd go for the latter happening...
