OK, I know its appeared elsewhere, but we need a thread to talk about this one! Line-Up looking VERY good IMO. Talking of Maceo Plex: where is he going to play most this year? :)

I also thought it was interesting/strange to see Guy Gerber on this bill. Considering he does his own thing and was affiliated with Pacha in the past. Wonder if that means he will be bringing his sound to the terrace for some nights this year... love Guy but not sure his sound can fit that place, anyway i do agree that is one hell of a lineup

I'm not sure Guy will be at Pacha this summer (no facts, just not sure where he'd fit in). However, this is one thing I'd love to be wrong on!

Gerber I'd imagine would be in the Main Room not the Terrace. He did Cocoon Opening Main Room in 2013, and not sure he's played at Amnesia since.

Going on last year, I'm not sure we can read much into any of the acts who are set to appear at the Opening being affiliated with Amnesia throughout the season in a more official capacity.

However, I will say one thing: Maceo Plex on that terrace works for me in many ways.

And as I have said before, I am now doing the "2nd Opening Weekend" and not the main one this year! I know Space "opens" things officially, but debatable what the real opening weekend is now IMO. So on for.........

Friday May 29: Destino / Luciano Opening followed by (TBC / MK) at Pacha
Saturday May 30: Ushuaia Opening then Amnesia.......
Sunday May 31: .......Amnesia Opening followed by Rumors Guy Gerber on the Beach
Monday June 1: Circo Loco Week 2 (my favourite as room to move) followed by Cocoon Opening (TBC)
Tuesday June 2: Sleep [EDIT: as @stivi says.... will be Cocoon afters.....so no sleep]
Wednesday June 3: HYTE Opening....

Ahhhhh Yeah! OK..... No sleep Tuesday!

you can sleep tuesday night...or alternatively carry on at tribal sessions.

I see your point regarding the second opening weekend being really strong this year (well, let's see who'll be playing at ushuaïa...) and maybe thus the first one being a tad weaker. that said, weekend one will still attract more people than weekend two, simply because of IMS, space and DC10 openings. I guess it could actually be pretty comfy - a tad less packed than normally on weekend one and definitely a bit busier than usual for weekend two - everyone's a winner.

I view Guy Gerber as working freelance. He's got the Rumors beach party that does well and now can take gigs at larger venues that works for him.

Yeah, I agree Beach House is perfect for him. I'm assuming there will be no more WOTG mini-residency-within at Pacha on a Friday...

He was one of the original Kehakuma residents! Hopefully see him there a few times!

I think I'd have to agree. Arguably the last few years the parties in the 2nd week of the season have been more appealing, personally.

I love Space, and have had some amazing nights there. Never had an amazing Opening party though, out of 3 attempts.

Similarly, I love Sankeys. But, as has been mentioned by other members numerous times, it's a venue which could be anywhere (England). Nothing really "Ibiza" about it.

I agree. Suppose most of us here know what parties we want and hence early June is when our parties open: Amnesia, Cocoon etc. But can't take away the fact that real opening is an island, industry event and if you like the IMS type carnival events then its brilliant.

That would be really dope to see Guy at Kehakuma and a really good fit for him IMO. Separately, forgive my ignorance but I never got a chance to make it there last summer. Is Beach House and El Chiringuito the same thing?

Is Beach House and El Chiringuito the same thing?

it's owned by the same people, but they are two different places. el chiringuito is on es cavallet beach (careful, there's a second el chiringuito which is on cala gracioneta) and beachouse is on playa d'en bossa beach (it's what used to be la sal rossa).

Made that mistake (well, I blame a mate).

"Andy who?" they said:)

careful, there's a second el chiringuito which is on cala gracioneta.

How can they possibly be happy with this arrangement??? Surely lots of ppl get confused?

I was aware of the one on Cala Gracioneta (isn't it owned by the Mambo chain??) I wasn't aware of the other one.

ah...well, 'el chiringuito' means 'the beach shack' in spanish. I'm sure there are thousands of 'el chiringuitos' around in the whole world and as probably no one of them has a copyright on them... when the spanish speak about all the beach bars in playa d'en bossa (nassau etc), they talk about 'chringuitos' - it's not a name of a place, it's just a description of a beach bar.

I am not sure, but I think the one in cala gracioneta (which is indeed owned by mambo group nowadays) has been around for much longer than the one in es cavallet. the one in cala gracioneta is pretty famous for weddings while the one in es cavallet is a very upmarket place these days. but their closing party at the very end of the season is normally really good.
