Alternative Ibiza?!

Hi, we are thinking of holidaying for 2 weeks in Ibiza in a few weeks time and are looking for somewhere really quiet and relaxing with loads of opportunity to see the real/Spanish side of the island. We do not want to be near clubs, loud/noisy nightlife or 'party people'.

Three options on villas we are looking at are:
- one near Siesta, Cala Llonga and Roca Lisa golf course
- another in San Joan de Labritja
- and finally one in Cala Valdella, Jan Jose

I have looked at the general areas on various web sites, but I'm looking more for 'inside' info re what the areas are really like, whether they are more couples/family orientated or party people.

Any thoughts you can let me have would be appreciated. :)

I recommend you go to Formentera:p

Hi Lulu

The main partying season doesn't really get going until June, so if you are going in a few weeks those areas should be fine. Majority of clubbers tend to stay in either San Antonio or Ibiza Town/Playa D'en Bossa, so if you're not going to those areas you're not likely to see many of them. I go to Ibiza every year (usually in June or September) and with a hire car you can be anywhere on the island within an hour. I went to Cala Vadella and Cala Llonga last year (for a day each) and both areas seemed nice - both families/couples type places rather than groups of clubbers -and were pretty quiet if I remember. I'm sure you'll really enjoy the island.

Of the ones you suggested, go for San Joan.
Up there is a different vibe and totally away from the holiday crowd.
You are also close to Benirras beach and some beautiful countryside.
PM me if you want any more info

Formentera is actually a very good call, basically you are heading in the right direction. The North West and North are very nice esp S. Joan & San Miguel areas. You can go diving and horse riding etc. It realy is best out of the main season before the end of May but thats not to say you will be in a throng, its only really bad in San Antonio and Eivissa town can get very busy but is always good. There are somne great restaurants too elephant KM5, Bambuddah etc that get a mix of people. Proper clubbers are generaly nice folks too, and high prices tend to keep out those that wouldn't know how to behave. The good thing about Ibiza is that you can do what you want when you want and to any style you like you just need a bit of help knowing whats there. Eg if you like a bit of ambience and and good company the restaurants above and club terraces are great just roam around until you find a spot that suits. The beach vibes are nice too at Sa Trinxa, Jockey Club Kumharas or Benirras (N) and certainly not hectic. Most juveniles dont know where they are either or are already flopped out in the West End so you seldomn get any bad behaviour.

i've stayed in san juan three times in lovely james villas they have 4 in that area all lovely really quiet es fexo is slightly noisey than the other 3 as it has a buzzing noise every so often from nearby power lines......within a short walk is 2 bars although one seems a little weird..and a short drive to es caliu, cas pages, con caus, san carlos grill excellent retaurants

Hey Dtranki, thanks for your (un)helpful response. Much appreciated. I really hope you have a great day.

Errr I think you will find he/she wasnt being arsey - its a great place to go to for a day trip - totally unspoilt (which you asked for tips about) and easily accessable from Ibiza - a great day out...
