Alicante

Anyone been? Would it be a good place to kill a couple of days in March?

Went further up the coast to Calpe and Moreira and it's lovely up there. Nice and chilled, decent food/prices without being touristy etc.

My wife and I go there at least twice a year to see the mother in law who lives about 20K away in El Campello (nice little spanish costal town).

Alicante itself is good for shopping, a nice port area and good resturants see here http://www.alicante-spotlight.com/

It also has good access up the coast using http://www.discover-alicante.com/trams/alicante-trams.html, and its cheap as chips.

I assume Alicante would be better than Benidorm to stay in at that time of year?

i like alicante very much. a good bar scene, lots of live music, plenty to see and do and yet not the least bit touristy, especially at that time of the year

any time of year.......only joking!! Benidrom has is positives but Alicante for a short break would be far more enjoyable.

I'm sure you're right, though I went to Benidorm one year and enjoyed it, probably much to do with the abundance of chemicals.

Quite a few of our footy team are going to Benidorm early March for 5 days, if you're just looking for somewhere with some sun, decent bars and restaurants Benidorm is fine.

Never stayed in Alicante itself but heard good reports from people who have.

Its is a little quieter but with the amount of ex-pats/locals living there its never like a ghost town.

It really depends what your after.....
