Algarb - wireless inet?

Hey

I'm coming over to PDB sept 16th for 5 days for a "working holiday" (ha - wish me luck with that one!). I need to bring my laptop with me and wondered about hotels in PDB with wireless connectivity. I saw on a forum somewhere that the fiesto hotel algarb has free wireless but it doesn't mention it anywhere on their website. Is this true?

I guess there are a few inet cafes dotted around I could go to, but I'd prefer to be able to check emails etc from my room. Any advice?

Many thanks

Check emails from your room (wink, wink).

A lot of places seem to have wireless or ethernet connections now. Not sure if you will get it in your room. If your only checking emails you could use your mobile

Heheh. No I'm a web designer by trade so I need to do a bit more than just check the old emails. None of the hotels I've searched on places like expedia and holiday.co.uk seem to list wireless internet as an availability so I guessed none had it...

Not in PDB but Talamanca, the Hotel Victoria advertised that they have free Wifi in the rooms. Would you consider a laptop card with mobile Internet? Then you could pay a monthly fee and have access anytime and anywhere, and stay wherever you want. I found that the T Mobile internet access on my phone, when roaming thru Movistar, worked better in Ibiza (and even on a boat near Es Vedra) than it ever did in NYC, my calls were clearer as well. http://www.movistar.es/fwk/cda/controller/page/0,2190,8887_19471210_111609764_0_0,00.html

The Garbi Aparthotel in Playa den Bossa has WiFi.

I used it to check my emails and research beaches & restaurants (and post a couple of updates on here ;)) right from my balcony as I sipped beer, enjoyed the sea view and waited for the missus to get ready. Bliss.

PS. Last year, my friend staying next door at Bali Beach would pop over to the Garbi bar with his laptop and use their WiFi in the afternoon (while purchasing a beer, of course). Algarb is also right next door to Garbi...

ah, perhaps I was getting algarb and garbi mixed up. That's good you could get a signal from your sea view balcony - was the signal pretty strong?

also, do you know how relaxed they are with bringing "guests" back to the room??

I always stay at the algarb, the garbi has never stoped me from going up for a visit. They are not that tight along as the person not there for a fortnight.

Ya, there's no real problem taking a couple guests upstairs at Garbi.

Even if you're worried about going by reception, you can always come in from the seaside end.

Signal is pretty good. It was a stable connection on my balcony and even sometimes inside my room and I was down near the seaside end of the building. Last year, when I was about halfway back (Garbi is a U shape with the open end facing the sea) I had good reception even inside the room.

The only problem with the garbi is it's gona cost me £100 more to stay than at the algarb. (based on one person for 5 nights; garbi quote on ibiza-spotlight, algarb quote on hotels.com). Probably not worth the extra £20 a day just for a wireless connection in my room...

Like I said, if push comes to shove, you can just pop over to the Garbi bar (come in from the beach side), plop yourself on a chair and enjoy a cold frosty one.

stick with the algarb.take you laptop to the phone shop.when you see kfc and and abar called bigben.walk past them.turn right on the left is a phone/internet cafe place.ask him if he can hook you up to get on.

he is a ok guy.should help you out.cheapest place around.

ok algarb is booked. I did it on ibizahotelsguide.com and got 5 nights half board for one person for 150 euros. How did I get that so ridiculously cheap?!

it should be 44 euros a night.but i too am getting mine for 32 a day/night. and thats in the cheaper time of oct.good deal you got there.

I stayed at the hotel algarb a few weeks ago, there internet access via the 6 computers in computer, but they are chargeable, as im sure you know by now...nothing is gratis in ibeefa!!8O:D
