Well, not like the UK has been quick to extradite the several Russian citizens currently living in the UK with asylum status!

Of course, the charges against some of them might be politically motivated (well, in most cases, while the charges might be true to some degree, the prosecution is selective, thus making it politically motivates), but probably not every case.

The Cold War is alive and well... but the attitudes (and media) in the West are just as much to blame for the lack of understanding.

Oh, I agree with you. I'm quite sure your MI-6 guys use much less clumsy methods for taking out defected spies ;)

Anyway, we all know it was just the latest level in subversive movie marketing by the Casino Royale guys. Whilst I admire their endeavour and commitment to the cause, I do think they went a little over the top with this one.

Just a thought... and admitted it is the ramblings of someone who isn't really an authority on anything.

Assuming it was the Kremlin, do you think it might have done in such a way so that it did draw alot of attention.

It is similar to the "markov umbrella" incident... not immediate but tracable.

Sends a clear message...
