Been working on this document for 3 days now, just saved it for about the millionth time, closed it down, and when I tried to reopen it it says "word is unable to read this document, it may be corrupt"

if our IT desk people can't solve it I'll be super annoyed, I'm not bloody doing the last 3 days work again

I don't trust myself trying to repair the file myself, it's bound to go wrong

copy the file and try and repair the copy, or open it up in a text document to see if you can pull out the text from it. There is nothing worse. When I was a lad on the last day of term of 4th year, I had my entire S Grade Computing project saved on a floppy. I quickly learnt, working from floppies is a recipe for disaster. I had to do the whole thing in the week extension I was luckily granted. You cant be expected to back up everything unfortunately. Hope you sort it!

well i wasnt mentioning his grip!

a nice man called dave rang up and accessed my computer and fixed it all. ALl the files in the office were doing it too, which is quite hilarious.. an entire 300 page deliverable was about to go down the pan

repair was the command we've been told to use, and to save multiple copies on different drives

bleeding computer nonsense, at least I got to read the newspaper whilst I waited for Dave to fix it

alive and strong.

so, whens microsoft gonna bring out a new OS for the 21st century?

Windows Vista - it looks exactly the same and has been delayed continuously for about 3 years... should be out by the end of the year, don't bother getting it until service pack 2 at least after the hackers have destroyed it!!

hilarious thing though is that apple's OSX 10.5 will be out in time for Vista, and I reckon apple's got something up it's sleeve now that it's moving to intel chips
