A night out in Manchester

I am arranging a (reasonably) sensible stag do for my brother in Manchester on Saturday August 18th. We used to live there together many moons ago and frequented the Hacienda and PSV and the like but I fear that things may have changed a little since then.

Can anyone suggest any bars for a group of gentleman aged from 34 to 49?

Yeah in that general area, good vibe, decent bars. Matt & Phreds jazz bar worth checking out if you fancy something a little different.

Black Dog Ballroom is underneath Afflecks which used to be North. Always a good crowd in there.
 
Most appreciated. Just booked the Jury's Inn for £50 for three rooms (Which seems very cheap) and I think that is near enough to the Northern Quarter to wander home from. Roll on August 18th then :)
