A little older and coming to Ibiza for first time, advice?

Hi All

First post so go easy on me if I'm coming across a bit simple or raising similar points to others. I have tried to read a lot of articles on here already about things but hopefully some of your thoughts on my specific holiday query might be helpful.

I am planning my best pal's stag do for next year. We're not into paintballing, lapdancing, 'hilarious' T shirts or any other such lame nonsense, we're all in our late 20s/early 30s and are just up for a quality long weekend away doing the sort of things we probably wouldn't get away with at home where our normal lives are. Mixed group, most like commercial Ibiza style clubbing, there are some single guys so we'll need potential access to skanks to chat up, some of us are a bit particular about food/hotels etc. so we don't want to be surrounded by chavs, kids on first holidays etc. I also want to arrange one daytime activity like a boat party or an all-inc drinking session at a nice bar (Think OC in Banus but not as expensive).

Many of us have never been to Ibiza before, no real reason, it has just never happened, so we fancy doing it in May/June 2013 for this. I'm planning it early because it'll likely be a pricey affair and if you give people a year to save, they have no excuse not to come.

Basically, the things I'd like help on form your end are: -

San An or Playa D'en Bossa?
Any thoughts on where to stay (Self catering, mid-size budget, not too noisy)?
Top places you can't miss on a 4 day holiday?
Decent places to eat to recover?
Decent places to drink during the day?
How feasible is chartering a boat for a day of on-sea drinking?
Any other random tips you think may help?

Cheers for your help guys.

Avoid San An Central and stay in the bay area is probably the first bit of advice as it's not too noisy but close enough to the action. The Bellamar, Ses Savines or The Hawaii are possibly the sort of place that might suit you?

Depending on numbers you can get a few of you doing paragliding... maybe 10 or 12 at a time on the boat with a few beers? There is a go kart track in San An as well

If you are doing a long weekend then Kehakuma @ Space or Cream @ Amnesia on Thursdays are big nights... Saturday is Zoo Project for a daytime party and Hed Kandi @ Es Paradis at night and then We Love Sundays @ Space as a final night is a must do imo

If you want to go on the lash all day there are loads of places tbh and the West End in San An is rammed and bouncing from evening until about 5am but it's mostly young people that are absolutely steaming falling around and is the place where you are most likely to see trouble.

On the way towards the bay from San An there is The Ibiza Rocks Bar and Itacca that are nice beachside venues for a few daytime beers and a bit further along is Tulp and Bay Bar but they are chill out bars (ideal after a heavy night) and not the place you will want to get hammered and rowdy but a bit further along is Linekers which has music all day and wall to wall Sky Sports (about £5 a pint though)

Head over to sunset strip round the back of the West End and round the corner from the Marina where there is Cafe del Mar and Mambo as well as a few others for a few beers and watch the sunset is a must do at least once

There are loads of boat trips available to all sorts of places with or without bars during the day and they leave from the Marina in San An or in Ibiza Town

Good restaurants i would recommend are Davids near the sunset strip, Villa Mercedes right next to San An marina and KM5 near PdB but there are literally hundreds of places where you can grab a fry up, a pizza, a curry, a chinese, traditional Spanish stuff and fine dining

Over in PdB there is Bora Bora beach bar and another Ibiza Rocks bar, Space, Ushuaia, loads of places to eat but ive only stayed there once so other people will be better able to give you more info

I'll say stay in San Antonio itself, there are plenty of hotels within a 5 minute walk of the action where you'd get a decent chill/sleep/bit of peace. Personally, I've stayed at the same hotel for four years, it's only a 3 minute walk to the madness of the West End, yet can hear nothing from a few streets away. Just remember that it's only one main street where the chavs congregate, the West End, I don't consider myself a chav but I quite like it there. It's cheap, and you'll have a laugh.

Definitely, spend a few hours/evening along the sunset strip, plenty of great chill-out bars to choose from. Things not to miss, Hed Kandi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9_6EA4bWIk

Decent places to drink during the day?
Golden Buddha
Itaca

How feasible is chartering a boat for a day of on-sea drinking?
Loads of people do it.

Any other random tips you think may help?
Go to Space on Sunday
Check out who is on at Ibiza Rocks
Check out Bora Bora in PDB for the day
Passion in PDB for cracking lunch

For stag party drinks avoid the main San An strip go for the side road, Amsterdam, That Bar (maay be renamed this yr), Ok Corral...you get loads of stag parties, still lots of girls (skanks) but u won't get mugged the same as u do on the main strip and most bars will give u the full terrace to drink to your hearts content...

Avoid Pisces Park as a hotel...loads of stag parties do it for the cheapness but aftetr 48 hours you'll all regret it...Id aim for a hotel in between Bay & San An, like behind Ibiza Rocks Bar, u can still sleep but stagger in or out...

Gran Sol

I've only stayed at the Gran Sol once, nothing wrong with it, cheap, great hotel, brilliant location for the strip, however when I was there it was full of families. Might have just been unlucky, but there's nothing worse than going to bed at 6am, then being woken and wide awake at 7am.

Thanks for your help so far guys.

One of the lads has suggested that the budget that I had in mind (flights and accomodation at £400-450 pp for 4 nights) might stretch to a villa. I haven't looked yet because, what with people being so helpful so far, I thought I'd ask on here first. Does anyone have any recommendations on places to find these villas, trusted agents etc?

And you know what? I apologise for using the word skanks, I was trying to be funny but reading it back, it is not a very nice thing to call young ladies. I do feel it got my meaning across though.

Cala Salada has some really nice villas for that budget, private pools etc but still close enough to san an to do your stag-y type things
