I could literally write endlessly for days and weeks about the week I had in Ibiza nearly a month ago now.............but words just can't do it justice, so I'll keep it brief. As you will see, we did some exploring!!
We stayed in:
Cala Llonga
The villages we visited were:
Eivissa
Sant Antoni
Sant Rafel
Jésus
Puig D'en Valls
Sant Llorenc
Sant Josep
Santa Getrudis
Sant Carles
Sant Jordi
Sant Miquel
Sant Juan
Sant Mateu
Santa Agnes
Sant Agustí
Talamanca
(I'll let Stephen give you the lowdown, http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/villages_i.htm)
The beaches we visited were (new ones only):
Rencli
Cala Sant Vicent
Cala d'en serra
Cala des multons
Pou des lleo
Cala Boix
Cala Olivera
Cala Pada
Cala Mastella
Xuclar
(likewise............http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/beaches_i.htm)
The clubs I went to:
zero!
The bars I went to:
the usual haunts of keeper, mambo, rey de copas, bay bar, etc
Who I meet
- Nostrum managed to squeeze me into his v. busy schedule and we had a quick fire get-to-know you chat.
- I had the most amazing conversation with Mcrackin that threatened to go on all night! (por cierto, tomaba bullit de peix en Jesus la próxima día - yummy!)
- not playing the name dropping game, so just some clues, i also met:
- a very famous basketball star
- a politican and controversial ibiza figure
- a club owner
- a DJ and old friend and the first brit to have a proper residency in ibiza
Autopista
All i can say is that driving through the newly built tunnels filled me with nothing other than a massive sense of sadness, which has gradually subsided into anger. These monstrous creations are quite literally a dagger through the heart of the island, serving no other purpose than to line the pockets of some cronies who happen to friends of the government.:x:x
I've driven on the road from Ibiza to San An, before and after the works, at various times of day, as tourist and as worker.................and I still, having experienced the effect of the works, don't understand the logic behind the need for their creation.
The junction at jesus has to be seen to be believed.
Finally, on a brighter note:
We decided, well at least created a pecking order, of where we want to live when we move!!8)
In summary:
I came away from ibiza having never felt so profoundly what it is to be ibicenco, having never seen so much of this magical island and having never felt so much joy than see my children fall in love with the place i fell in love with.
Yet despite all this, I feel that there is so much more that I don't know about Ibiza than I could ever have imagined and so many places I've yet to fully appreciate. In fact, even when I'm a wrinkly 70 year old living on my farm in the countryside in ibiza, I'll undoubtedly still be wanting to learn more about the island.
