Ostgut Ton marks 50th release with 7″ from Berghain bouncer and barmaid

Ostgut Ton will mark its 50th release with “a departure into uncharted territory”.
Those expecting techno from any of the label's leading lights – Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Shed, Marcel Fengler et al – will be surprised, if not displeased. The 50th release on Ostgut Ton is a split 7″ from Shambhu, described in a press release as “the undisputed Queen of the Berghain bar ladies”, and Rummelsnuff, “the Germanic Hulk of the Berghain/Laboratory bouncers” (pictured).
Shambhu is already known – in the Berlin underground, at least – for the music she makes as Shambhu And The True Love Hearts (you can check out a number of tracks on her Soundcloud page here), while the outrageously built Rummelsnuff has apparently been recording “his unique brand of Industrial Music meets Drinking Songs” (only in Deutschland, eh?) for quite some time as well.
For the new 7″, limited to 500 copies, they each tackle a vocal track from the Ostgut back catalogue. Shambhu And The True Love Hearts reinvent Steffi‘s melancholic house groover ‘Sadness', turning out “a new version full of grit and raw power steeped [in] Gospel, Rock & Roll, Blues and Soul”. Rummelsnuff takes on Prosumer & Murat Tepeli‘s ‘Makes Me Wanna Dance', delivering the vocals in German and strapping them over a repetitive beat that “creates a link to the Techno side of Ostgut Ton while referencing early electronic music pioneers but always keeping it a little tongue-in-cheek”.
The hand-numbered 7″ is due out on January 30. According to Ostgut, whether it's a one-off or the beginning of something more “remains to be seen”.

Tracklist:
A. Shambhu And The True Love Hearts – Sadness
B. Rummelsnuff – Machen wir den Tanz!

... and all the DJs will have to play it at least once during their sets or their guestlists will be torn up and there will be no free drinks  ....
