hi

was thnking earlier morning about 'IF' i lost my job for whatever reason. what would i do?

buy a cheap campervan and drive to Ibiza and stay there for 6 months then drive home. (mid may to mid oct)

good or bad idea? i've been at Ibiza 13 times now. oftenly i've seen campervans around parking on streets, off road car parks, in woods, near beaches etc etc.

legal or illegal?

I think it was Carl Cox whose first time in ibiza he slept in his car because he couldnt afford a place to stay, didnt sound too pleasant...On the bright side it might end up with you having your portrait stamped all over the island and people flying from around the world to see you DJ one last time at space in the future...so there's always that!

"The first time I went to Ibiza was in 1985.
When my girlfriend at the time and my sister Pamela got to the island

we got enough cash together to buy a  Fiat Panda.
It was very basic: no air-con, no tinted windows, nothing.

But it did have a seat that turned into a bed!

We took a dirt road from the airport to San Antonio –
it was the first time I'd ever driven on the wrong side of the road.
For the first two days my sister, my girlfriend and I slept in the car park opposite Eden,
beside Es Paradis.

The nights were cool, but when the sun came up
the Fiat turned into a green-house! It was ridiculous,

I couldn't even be with my girlfriend because my sister was with us in the car.
So we scraped the last of our cash together and booked into a hostel in the West End above a karaoke pub.
It was noisy, chaotic and nasty, but it was a luxury compared to the car!"

I slept in a hire car in August 2012 over a 4-day trip, pretty much for the same reasons - I was skint from too many trips abroad. It was full and crazy expensive almost everywhere that year & could stretch to a car OR a hotel but not both in peak season ! Out all day and most nights, in & out of the sea with that smelly sea grass everywhere I went on the beaches.

One quick beach shower at Calo d'es Moro if I remember. But was a proper stinky state by the last night - sweaty trainers & acrid sea grass stench is a lethal combination in a confined space ! Finally met the (now banned) Bez who let me use the shower in his hotel room, felt like a proper hobo . Things had got a bit out of control that year. I wouldn't rush to do it again for that length of time, it has to be said. 48 hours is doable but any longer is really hard going !!!
