54 Hours on the Island....

Hi Guys,

Just thought i'd put a few lines down about our little trip seeing as the reviews seem to be pretty slow this year.

Sixteen of us from Bristol arranged a short and sweet trip to Ibiza for the weekend (One of the lads 30th). Travel arrangements were a bit of a beast, Our van left Bristol at 00.30 to get us up to Stansted for our 06.10 flight to Eivissa, not a great Journey as the driver kept nodding off and swerving all over the M4 so no sleep was had! finally landed in Ibiza at 10.20am Local Time, made our way to the Bahamas Club Hotel in Playa Den Bossa. We were all very pleased on arrival as all of our rooms were ready for us to Check in (which we weren't expecting til later). Quick change and off down to Tantra cafe to get tickets for Zoo Project and Defected @ Pacha. We'd heard that Zoo had sold out the last 3 weeks so we got a move on, Tantra only had 9 tickets left @ 40e, and we had to get 7 more up the road for 45e each!! bit lively as we were expecting 30e each.

We then decided after a couple of beers to get over to Sunset Strip for a bite, It was very quite down there in the afternoon (3pm ish) The food in Savvanahs was good, and a nice setting to have a few beers looking out to sea!

We got Taxis up to Zoo about 6pm, the queue was about 30 deep at this point, we were told that if you get up there near 8pm it can take ages to get in, luckily we were in within 10 minutes, and managed to get camera's in too which they seemed to be quite fussy about!

It was the first time I'd been to Zoo, and it turned out to be the highlight of the weekend, I thought the crowd of people there all seemed right up for it, plenty of people put in a good effort with dressing up and the like! We enjoyed being able to by Bottles of San Miguel for 5e (half price of any other club)! After being in there for an hour in the sunshine, we decided to have a good stint up in the seal pit, plenty of room when we first got in there but it soon filled up, after and hour or so as the sun was setting it was really buzzing up there! everyone really going for it! We then decided to have a dance down by the bottom decks (with the netting over the top) It was a wicked place to have a dance as the last little bit of sun was fading away and the tunes were banging!! I would def reccomend Zoo to anyone who likes partying out in the sun! We'd been told that if you stay till the end it can be a nightmare to get out, so we left about 11pm and managed to get 2 minibuses to take us up to Ibiza town, had a few beers in a bar up near Pacha, then went in about 1am. I hadnt been in there for 12 years so memories were a little hazy!

Although we all had fun at defected, I have to say that I was a little dissapointed with Pacha overall, Bob sinclar has to be the cheesiest DJ on the circuit, at times cringeworthy! he played **** like 'We are the champions, Wonderwall, Sex is on Fire, and Jammin, Also, I'm no house music expert but it just seemed like he was chucking records on without mixing at all! He did have some tidy birds in the booth with him though so who am I to criticise!! :D

I was also amazed to find a fairly large room there dedicated to RnB music!! and it was rammed everytime I went for a mooch round the club! gash.

We managed to see Sinclar out till the end and flagged down a geezer in a citreon AX to take us back to the digs for 20e at 0700 for some much earned kip!

Day 2

Woke up at 1200 and wandered down the pool to make sure all of the lads were still alive, and they were, just! We had a wander down the main road to get our We Love ticket, got them in the Raza shop on the corner, 40e for entry before 10pm which suited us as we always planned to get on the sunset terrace for about 8pm! happy days! We bought a load of cold Miguels from the supermarket 3.50e for 6! and got outside Bora Bora for 5pm, I thought Bora Bora was pretty good in fairness considering the stick it gets these days. They pulled the screens accross at 7pm so we moved inside and had a couple more. usual italians there in ropey trunks, and the usual lot up on the tables etc, was a good giggle! We went over in Space at about 8pm and the Sunset Terrace was already buzzing, much busier than the same time last year! I think my favourite bit of Space is the sunset terrace, we all got a good spot near the back for Jon Ulysses and he was wicked from 10pm-12pm, he had the crowd really going for it! after that we cut through to the Terreza for Layo and Bushwacka! who I was a little dissapointed with, I thought their set was a little flatter than I was expecting, we caught a bit of Voorn after that but had to retire up to Premier Etage for a sit down at 2am! (getting old) We had another few wanders round, caught a bit of Von Stroke in the Main Room, and also managed to get a quick word with the legend Bobby Gillespie in El Salon! happy days! by 0400 I was flagging so had to call it a day, a fair few of the lads made it right till the death!

Luckily we had a few hours to sit round the pool yesterday to recover, flew home at 17.50 and arrived back in Bristol at 23.30 shattered. and a grand lighter!

Roll on the next one!!! :D

Is Tantra particularly expensive for drinks? I remember being in there once and thikin it was a total rip off

That's taking the piss as they are only 35e online - maybe they charged that because they were down to their last and they knew people would pay the extra tenner...

I think you are spot on Neilly, the girl on the gate was asking everyone how much they'd actually paid for the tickets, so they must be aware that people are being over charged! no doubt zoo will put their own prices up soon once they realise that people are willing to pay more!

Yeah I guess thats about right if you're counting your travel/accom. We've budgeted the same for 4 days next month but won't be on it quite as hard as you

Yeah, now that they know they can get the punters in every week it'll be time to jack the prices up..

Sounds like you had a blast anyway - top weekend!

Mate you brought back some absolutely cracking memories from last year with your Zoo description, it was our 1st time there last year and had an amazing day/night. We did exactly the same thing raving under the netting to catch the last of the sun, such a good crowd in there!!! Sadly we arrive this year around the same time as the Zoo closing party finishes, very bad timing on our part!!!! :(

Sound! we had a few Ibiza virgins with us as well, and being our first venture out of the weekend, it was just one of those moments where everything came together sweet as a nut, no one could stop smiling, and it was just a pleasure to be there!!

Zoo is class for the sun, plenty of space to move about, and a good lively crowd!!

Thats a shame about your plans mate, I'm sure you'll have a wicked time in Ibiza though! and no doubt get up to Zoo on your next trip out there!! :D

You might be lucky they did a couple of extra parties after the closing last year - can see them doing the same the way people are talking about how busy it is this summer.
