50 Greatest "Independent" Films List

The passion of Christ?

What is considered independent? 8O
A film not financed by a major film studio (in the US, that would be 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Disney/Touchstone, Sony/Columbia, Universal, DreamWorks)

The Passion of the Christ was financed by Mel Gibson himself, if I'm not mistaken. He then sold distribution rights to a small distributor.

C'mon, Clerks is, I think, the funniest movie I've seen. Together with most of everything from Kevin Smith.
Clerks was the best of his Jersey series, I think.

On a separate note, I forgot to mention before that I think Momento is one of the most inventive movies I've seen. Truly enjoyed that one.

Clercks is so funny, I saw it on a X-mas day with my bro

City of God is one of the best films I've ever seen, Pep and I still discuss how they managed to shot the chicken scene.

I think there's some movies on there that I've seen under another title but I'm not sure

Surprisingly great list...a lot of my favourite films and about 6 or 7 haven't seen. Great to see Bad Taste make it... I stumbled over that when it came out and have always loved it...I couldn't believe it when Peter Jackson (who stars in, directs, produces and does make up in Bad Taste) ended up doing LOTR :D

absolutley love buffalo 66...should have had more Coen films...Blood Simple great but what about Fargo? What about Amelie...sickly sweet but lovely...Jacob's Ladder etc etc?
