GlobalWave said:5HTP is a seratonin production enhancer derived from a plant called Griffona. It is literally L-Tryptophan, the immediate precursor to Seratonin (hence the term 5HT which is the chemical symbol for seratonin). Anyway, if you are going to use it, here is what you should expect/do:
1. Always take it with a vitamin B12, without vitamin B it is much less effective as it will not boost 5HT production w/o vitamin B12.
2. Preload and postload, take up to 500mg/day over 48 hours pre and post. Always take it in smaller, 100mg batches. Mix with OJ, just empty the caps into liquid and stir.
3. Taking 2 after a hard night of partying will do nothing, can you say "placebo effect"?
4. Always add other goodies such as vitamin C, multi-vit and eat. Vitamins are not a substitute for eating.
5. Partying hard 2 nights in a row will trash you hard, don't do it.
6. Remember, it takes about 7 days to get back to baseline.
7. Use common sense and don't mix anything with alcohol or other things.

See what you mean, never really used to get them before 5HTP cept for really heavy wkends but after embracing HTP I'm like a little spring lamb skipping around on a Monday morning![]()
