4 people killed at Carl Cox gig

I just received the most disturbing e-mail/video. At a Carl Cox gig in Caracas, four people were shot dead in the middle of Carl's set, and many more were injured. This was all caught on camera, and there is a very graphic video floating around- out of respect for the deceased and their families I am not providing any link, and I would hope that nobody else posts it here.

It happened on Saturday in Caracas. called the Red Noise festival

The news and videos are all over the dance music sites now so its pretty easy to find out what happened

thing is though, by providing the information above , it will just make everyone, (myself included) search for more info... and then you get the full story and videos...

Jesus - that's just tragic to see.....

Its House music - not R&B - you just dont associate guns and death with House, at least you havent up to now.......:cry::cry::cry::cry:

That's terrifying. Especially after the second shooting and everybody scatters.

I wonder if Cox will make a comment?

:cry::cry:

It really is scary innit? :-/ Quite upsetting because Coxy is essentially a UK export and dance music has never been received in the UK in quite 'that' way. :-/ Horrible to see something like that happening in a familiar environment.

It's not hip hop ffs! So glad to be living in London now. *phew*

Caracas is supposed to be one of the most dangerous cities in the world. *strikes off travel list IMMEDIATELY*

A few comments on his site from people who were in the middle of this - but nothing as yet from the King of Clubs himself.... Poor bloke is probably still in shockI would imagine...... :?:?:?

STATEMENT FROM CARL

05 Nov 07

I am deeply shocked and still stunned by the events of this Saturday [3rd November]. My condolences go out to victims that were caught up in this horrific act that took place at this gig. I am informed that it was gang related and feel so sad that anybody would act in such a manner when the event was full of 7000 people having fun! I will try my best to continue on the tour accross South America however deeply shocked and shaken I am.

Coxy.

IMO. A music genre does not create the violence; the people/security in a club or venue are the ones that begin or end violence. This has more to do with lack of value for life than music.:spank::twisted:

True. True.

But when's the last time you heard a hip hop track with inspirational non ego driven lyrics?

On the R&B end it's all a load of whining pansys going, "OOoooh I love you girrrrrlllll"

and on the harder end it's, "blah blah, shot him, blah, listen to ME, blah blah blah, me me me, isn't it difficult living in the hood...blah blah, pu$$y guns & crime, fast cars" *yawn* boooooring male driven pap.

I never hear anything profund that breaks this mould.

House just tends to be a bit less ego driven and positive which is why this event is so surprising.

You almost expect it at hip hop gigs (i.e. - Ministry & Brixton academy gun shots)

But still => @ me for spouting my views when I clearly know nothing about hip hop.

But its pretty much spot on though isnt it? Not wanting to trivialise the incident in any shape of form but lets face it when was the last time you heard any House track which glamorised *shooting/gangs/putting a cap in your ass etc... its just not done really which makes it so much more shocking in my mind.

(*unless you include "bullet in the Gun" but even then no one got shot in it.)

There's a bullet in the gun
There's fire in your heart
You will move mountains that stand in your path
Till' the end of all time
I'll be by your side
Always dream that I'm yours and I'll dream your mine

Quite innocuous and sweet really

I think it's more to do with the fact that everyone on the house scene is taking ecstacy and feeling loved up, whereas everyone on the hiphop scene is taking coke or drinking champagne and starting fights!!

I thinkit's got nothing to do with the music or venue, more to do with the fact it's one of notoriously one of the worst areas of the world for gun crime and gang activity.

On another forum it got posted, and the second reply asked for the tune to be ID'd 8O:roll: (though a little bit )

I'm not a hip hop fan at all.. but I don't think those generalisations hold so true anymore. I saw 2 fights this year in Ibiza where everyone was supposedly being loved up... and wasn't someone shot at the beginning of the season?

It was gang related, presumably these people were not entirely innocent in this. It was just a coincidence that it was at a "house event" and entirely irrelevant. It would of happened whatever, just unfortunate to happen where 7000 people were meant to be having fun.
