hotel: mare nostrum, playa d'en bossa. terrible food but cheap and really quiet.
PARTIES:
SA: only bora bora on our first evening and later on an hour of cafe ole at space because of free tickets. party was pretty boring, but it was only a little after 12. bora bora was great fun.
SO: vagabundooos!
the promo girls at sa trinxa were really cute with their black gipsy hats. found
the price of 45 euros surprisingly high for such a new, kind of underground party.
pacha was completely full, nevertheless the second floor remained closed for the whole
night.
sound was great of course. heard guilleaume and the coutou dumonts live. really love his cocoon productions so at pacha got a bit disappointed to hear a 'pacha remode' of his stuff, it sounded a bit more commercial to me. luciano was great as usual, was shocked though when over his trademark sound he played the vocals of houstons "i wanna dance with somebody" and "she drives me crazy" from the fine young cannibals. did he do this stuff on the amnesia terrace?! probably again something done for the pacha audience. but fun night all in all !
MO: cocoon!
favourite night out no 1. arrived early for a smasher-warm up set by tiefschwarz. did
a hell of a job, I loved the atmosphere when they dropped 'soy como soy' by makossa and megablast (by producers of my hometown vienna!). tiefschwarz bros obviously had a great time theirselves up there
later checked out loco dice for 45min - also great. though pretty hard and bassy. väth later made my night perfect with a really good, housy set. played some veeeery deep and slow stuff as well in between. like that better than loco dice's bangaboomaammza.
TUE: cafe del mar and sleep
btw: chill out tune that made my evening there: "ben harper and
vanessa de Mata - boa sorte / good luck"
WED: la troya.
got completely pissed at ibiza port before that so review is a bit blurry ;-) great
house sound at the terrace (prok and fitch - something going on!!) and a rather mixed audience with sexy girls!! and yes, i'm still pretty sure they were really girls. had great fun there, big mistake later though to step into the foam. but was my first foam party, so had to try it. does anybody actually every go to a foam party for the SECOND time?!
THUR:
carl cox at sands!
hell yeah. arrived there around sunset and witnessed the perfect vibe for a beach party. people from all ages were dancing to classic house by cox, whole families with 4year olds were partying merrily together with 25 year old clubhoppers. never witnessed such an atmosphere and cox had great fun. he was smiling all the time and really connecting to the people standing just a meter next to him. and when cox dropped nightcrawlers - push the feeling on I orgasmed haha
come together at space.
favourite night out no2 and surprise of the week. arrived at space
at 1 and found the club quite busy already. daisy heartbreaker played great vocal house music onthe terrace. her mixing was terrible but she played really decent tunes and looked good while doing so went over to check out vitalic shortly who played live and audience went completely mad. not my cup of tea though.
later: mark ronson and HE ROCKED! i didn't know what to expect from him and i don't think i know what to expect from him now that i actually heard his set - but this
was fukkin brilliant! in his 90minutes he played almost every musical genre there is and his skills were awesome. audience went through the roof - cant remember when i heard boney m - sunny, killing in the name of and valerie by ronson himself in ONE set
after his set ronson said humbly thanks to the audience and space for making this happen. after ronson i headed over to the terrace again to round up the night with a great set by mark knight. my second set by him this summer and he's got to be my new favourite house dj! great selection and perfect skills. great night at space - for only 30 euros!!
FRI: bora bora (with a very bad dj who even played 'chase the sun' - c'mon, we're not in the westend). later:
supermartxe at privilege.
the promo girl on the beach actually called it a 'porn show with house music' haha. well, both is slightly exaggerated. apart from some naked boobies and a short strip show the only porn thing about privilige were the glass floors in the vip area. and house music - well, actually dance and remixed pop trash from last year (eg. dance remix of meet me
halfway). really bad music, the show was pretty good though. this is not a gay party, by the way, as i've read on the forum sometimes. maybe some 20% of the people were gay men, as far as i can tell. mainly there were young spanish couples, many of them just standing around and kissing or watching the show on stage - so really bad vibe and no party atmosphere at all. didn't expect much, especially musicwise, but supermartxe was a real disappointment. however, first time that i experienced privilege really and completely full!
BEACHES:
cala comte, cala saladita and sa caleta were amazing! water soo clean (jellyfish attacks!) and great atmosphere.
cala carbo a bit boring and small, but restaurant looked decent.
cavallet is huge and not as crowded as so many smaller beaches. and the beach cafe looks awesome.
cala jondal is great fun for an afternoon, but bring money for sunbeds and the best sangria on the island!
favourite beach still: salinas, around sa trinxa. eat the great sandwiches and enjoy the sound. had a perfect sunset-set, vibe was unbelievable. people actually clapped after dj had played "time to say goodbye". the sun had not set yet but the atmosphere was so amazing that without anybody telling us to everybody clapped! wow moment!
FOOD:
food at playa den bossa and kaya (san antonio) is really awful.
go to: restaurant sa caleta (sa caleta salad) or for sandwiches to sa trinxa.
PRICES:
drinks in clubs are cheaper than in 2007 (my last time on the island).
vodka bull: 15 (space), 17 (pacha), 20 (amnesia).
do you guys actually tip waiters or taxi drivers? they seemed so genuinely surprised and happy when i tipped them that i thought i was the only one. my woda orange at space was 13 eur. when i gave her 14 she even said "no, it's 13". when i said "nono, it's ok" she thanked me with a big smile. won't happen to you in vienna
