I'm currently fighting the fog that is the post-Ibiza comedown by looking at flights for next year, however before I get carried away I thought I'd better write a bit about last weekends trip.
We got married earlier this year and had an awesome Honeymoon in NYC and Bermuda, so we knew we couldn't justify splashing out on a week in Ibiza, so we compromised with a 3 night short break. It was my hubby's 11th trip and my 7th. The excitement does not get any less. If anything I was MORE excited than ever before
We arrived at the Mitjorn in San An at about 11am and settled in with a beer…or 6! I know what many of you think about San An but I really like it there. OK you've got your few streets of hell but once you're away from that it's a lovely town. The Mitjorn is an awesome little hotel located at the rear of Villa Mercedes - good prices, fresh buffet breakfast, spotless rooms and great staff who are a mine of information. Tony especially knows everything about anything to do with Ibiza.
Evening meals - Curry Club, Villa Mercedes & Savannah at sunset (an absolutely perfect cloudless one for our last evening!) – all meals were great but Villa Mercedes was outstanding and not a bad price either – about £30 per head for 2 courses with water, wine and beer.
We struggled with plans for clubs as all three of our Must Do nights fell on Saturday (Zoo Project, Hed Kandi and Faithless at Privilege). We started with Zoo and just played the rest by ear but ended up getting rather trollied at Zoo, getting off the bus in San An and getting caught up in the end of the Romans V Carthaginians fesival. After that energy levels were flagging so we tottered over to Savannah to be soothed by whoever was playing some awesome 80's soul. After a few strawberry daquiris, we headed back to the hotel at around 4am to see the evening out/morning in with an Ibiza history lesson from Tony LOL!
The rest of the weekend was taken up with just chilling out, wandering round San An, sunning ourselves and dropping into many bars for drinks. Perfect to recharge the batteries after a long 8 months without a holiday
Highlights
Kick-ass Mojitos and hilarious entertainment from the locals at Es Recos - the ONLY reason to venture into the West End after dark
Zoo Project – much randomness and minxiness! I didn't hold out any hope of the free coach return working out and had visions of either walking back or waiting for hours for a taxi, but coaches were lined up outside as soon as we got kicked out.
Tapas at Rincon de Pepe's – the only place my hubby will eat mussels
The airport departures – SO much better than my last trip in 2008
Lowlights
The bloody boats parked up outside Savannah at sunset!! And the parasailers - bugger off out of me photographs!
Only going for 3 nights! When does Ryanair release its Summer flights so I can book 2011???
Plans for next year
Hiring a boat
Spending more time in Ibiza Town
