Hi everyone - I love reading clubbing reviews so thought I would add my own!

Just the 2 of us traveling - it was my 6th time and my mate Michaela was an Ibiza virgin! We both had high hopes for the holiday and had planned what we wanted to do beforehand so we didn't run out of money or time! I should add at this point although I had been before with different groups of friends, my time exploring the island, sightseeing etc was limited and we both wanted to be out and about, so we hired a car for the whole stay. Mich gets terrible hangovers so as the only driver she decided not to drink at all while we were there, even on club nights - with this in mind I did drink but never got hammered, and this worked out really well because we were up and out early doors after going clubbing, but more about that later!

After an uneventful afternoon flight from Manchester, we landed in Ibiza and I got the usual goosebumps as everyone started cheering on landing! We picked up the car and after a few emergency stops while Mich got used to the car, we headed to the Hotel Riviera in the bay, pointing out Amnesia and Privilege on the way and getting over so slightly giddy!

I stayed at this hotel a few years before, the location is great, its easy to get to and the food OK - we went half board purely because all inclusive was a waste as we wouldn't be there a lot and then didn't have to spend loads of cash on food. We arrived too late for dinner, so got checked in and got a cheap pizza from a bar in the bay, got chatting to a couple over a beer or 2 and headed back about 12ish for an early night!

Tuesday 3rd

Both woke up early, excited to see what the day would bring! We got stocked up on water and food and headed our in the car to find a beach - we had no plan of where to go so just decided to drive past the first few beaches to find somewhere away from the crowds. After about 20 minutes, we parked up and found we had stumbled across Cala Salada - on my days, what a start to the holiday!! Because we got there early it was relatively quiet - we did the 'mountain goat' bit over the rocks, not an easy task in Havaianas loaded down with beach bags! But the spot we got was gorgeous - close to the shore, in between some rocks so we could people watch the guys walking past.

The majority of people there seemed to be Spanish or Italian - it was nice to see something other than the usual brits abroad types though, and I've never seen as many budgie smugglers in one place in my life!! The only downside to the beach was loads of little brown jellyfish - I doubt they were harmful but I wasn't going to find out the hard way!

We stayed there all day and reluctantly headed back to the hotel for dinner and to get ready for the water party at Es Paradis - before you laugh, we both had club nights we wanted to do so it was only fair to go there at Mich's request as I wanted to go to We Love!

Our balcony overlooked the pools but also had an ok sunset view, which I was thrilled with, as I LOVE sunsets, especially Ibizan ones, so I enjoyed the first one on the balcony with a few vodka fanta Limon's, my holiday drink of choice other than mojitos.....mmmmmmmm! *mouth waters*

Anyway, we had got tickets for the party beforehand and headed to Es Paradis, via the water taxi. Even though its not my kinda night and I was expecting it to be a massive cheesefest, I couldn't help but get very giddy about the night to come (the Smirnoff possibly helped) haha.

In the end it was a good night - loads of people having a good time, we were probably a bit older than them as we were 33 and 34 but the vibe was so so infectious you couldn't do do anything but get caught up in it! But oh my god, the sewage smell before the water was switched on!!!! Vile!!! And I got out sharpish when I saw cig ends and plasters floating about....gahhhhh. Think we left about half 5, it got to be really cold, so the first and only night Mich didn't drive it took half an hour to get a taxi :-( . Anyway, the end of a successful first proper night out!

I stayed at rivera in the bay. For what I had heard from a GPS group owned hotel it was really good and I was quire impressed. The food wasnt amazing tbf but you get what you pay for. It sounds like you had fun. I'm going in June this year which is a change but next year I'll probs go in september I reckon. I jw was getting a car and parking it easy there? And hmm water party eh? Not bad i may try that this year lol

This was the first time I had been in September and it was the best easily. Still had the weather and got a bargain for the holiday itself.

We booked the car before we went and collected it from the airport. The parking is a bit limited at the hotel but we only struggled to get parked once. We had more problems finding the car park because of the one way system to be honest!

Tuesday 4th

Another early start (for Ibiza anyway) saw us on the road about 9ish. The weather was absolutely glorious - I was a bit worried beforehand that it wouldnt be warm enough because I love heat, but in the peak of the day it was sweltering! Fab!!

We decided to head the same way as the previous day but carried on driving until we reached Portinaxt. I should add although Mich drives she doesn't have a car in the UK (she's Czech) so at the start we were a bit useless with navigating and some parking lol! So on occasion we were in the car ages not getting anywhere haha. (She will kill me if she finds this thread!).

We spent a good few hours here but it wasn't our favorite beach....i like my sand white and sugary and this was definitely more gritty and darker, though I wasn't complaining as obviously there's no beach at all in Sheffield where I'm from ha! We decided to explore a bit more, couldn't say how long we were driving but ended up at a little beach which I think was Cala Xarraca? Had to go down a steepish zig zag road to get parked up, and the beach itself was sandy but quite rocky? Nice little place, but crowded as by this time it well into the afternoon.

We headed back over to the bay as we were eating out that night and were going to watch the sunset from the strip. I was so looking forward to this - I would watch it every night if I could, and I was excited for Michaela to see it too!

Drove into San An and parked up near a fruit and veg market, close to David's. I know there's mixed feelings about David's, but I've been most times I've come to Ibiza and never had a problem (touchwood haha). I love the food, location, cost and the standard of service has always been spot on. I got stuck into a David's special pizza, my favourite! I had been looking forward to it since we got to Ibiza and it didn't disappoint.

We got to the strip pretty early, I picked up a drink from the shop round the corner and we settled down within earshot of the bars to watch the sunset. Now, Michaela is quite a hippy herself and I expected her to love it, but even so she was bowled over by the whole experience. I know people who haven't been to Ibiza that think 'well its just a sunset' - but I think its so much more that? Its hard to describe, but to see so many people together, seeing the sun drop in to the ocean, feeling an atmosphere that I haven't felt anywhere else before? I think its at this time you either 'get' Ibiza - meaning I feel it gets in your soul, or you don't get it any of it and you go to Malia the following year haha! Sorry for rambling there....I always get a bit emotional thinking of the sunset!

We didn't see the tall, fire guy on the beach this time - the one that wears braces and no top! Was a bit disappointed at this as I'd seen him every year up to now! Anyway, we were a bit knackered from the early start so went back the hotel for a chill out and gossip ( and few vodka limons) on the balcony and got an earlyish night again.

That sums it up nicely.

Wednesday 5th

We decided today to go D'en Bossa. I was really looking forward to this - I'm a proper beach bum and love a gorgeous beach! We had a little drive around D'en Bossa first, checked out how much parking there is at Space for later in the week, had a general nosey about and I picked up some Fanta Limon and Grey Goose miniatures for a spot of daytime bevvying. (Is it wrong that's its 9.40am and I want a VFL now lol).

I was hoping to get down to Bora Bora but because of parking we ended up staying up near Nassau. The water was cold but so refreshing, really nice but it was a bit choppy - Mich told me she saw a girl made up to the hilt with hair and makeup normally seen on Milan fashion week, unbalanced by a wave and lose her Ray-Bans in the sea! Apparently she wouldn't get her hair wet to find them, and neither would any of the group she was with! Thought she might have been a parade girl, or just waaaay overdressed for the beach!

Stayed here for a good few hours until we fancied a change of scenery, so we drove round aimlessly again haha and came across the hotel Santa Eulalia, which has got a little promenade kind of sunbathing deck. No sand, steps into the sea - its like a little harbour for the hotel residents. We were not residents and this was obvious due to the 30 year plus age gap between us and the other sunbathers but no one minded so we stayed there for an hour or so until we got hungry.

We headed back earlyish to the hotel to freshen up as we were heading back down south for the sunset at Es Vedra. It was a lot of driving but the sun had been that sweltering and we were both covered in suncream and sand that we couldn't face being sat like that til after sunset!

We found Es Vedra surprisingly with little effort - the main problem was parking, as when we got there it was already busy and the roads are nothing more than dirt tracks! I have to say, the sunset here was one of the highlights of my holiday. As well as other people enjoying the view, a church group of teenagers were singing hymns with some priests and it made for fantastic atmosphere. I would urge anyone that's not visited Es Vedra before to go!! Also couldn't believe how far up the watch tower is - already planning on going up there next time!

We took our time driving back, had a couple of drinks in the Bay before heading back to the hotel. Another early night (booooooo) but didn't mind too much as it was Pacha the next night!! TBC....

Yes VFL, I can taste it now even sat my desk. Roll on 28th June and i'll be nailing the VFL on the beach. :)
