So this was my first trip in 2 years (missed last summer because selfish friends were getting married) and if I said I wasn’t excited it would be like when Lance Armstrong said he didn’t do drugs. It would be a lie. To add to the excitement I would be celebrating my birthday on the white isle for the second time. The first time was for my 21st 8 years ago, a lot has changed since then but not my love for Ibiza. That has only grown.
This time around it would be me and my girlfriend going for the second time together. Last time was for the closing parties in 2011. That was all about the parties didn’t do anything apart from go to the clubs and sleep. It was amazing but we were looking forward to doing a bit more than that this time.
This review will start off being fairly detailed then it will get less so because my brain took a battering and I can’t remember as much.

I’ll start the story the night before we flew just so you guys get a full picture of the start of my holiday and why I made it a little bit more difficult than it should have been.
Friday I was with a few mates having some beers and had planned to get home for 22:00 to get an early night ready for out 3:30 wake up call for the 6:50 flight. I hope you noticed the word planned because after a few too many beers, some of Columbia’s finest, a lot of angry calls/ texts from my girlfriend I stumbled through the door at 1:30. I necked a valium then proceed to try and pack as much stuff as I could into my case. Some of it needed some of it not. Then fell asleep on the couch at about 2:00.
Saturday 28/6
So alarm goes off at 3:30 I woke up feeling surprisingly fresh but lets face it that was down to the excitement of know I would be touching down in Ibiza in less than 8 hours. I woke up my girlfriend who wasn’t in the best of moods with me. I made my apologies which were accepted but things were still a bit frosty. I had some marching powder left over, this definitely helped my girlfriends ill feeling towards me. A couple of lines and some last minute sorting out of phone charges, makeup (hers not mine) and we were on our way. We got a taxi to the Piccadilly train station then a train to Manchester airport from there.
When we arrived at the airport there was what I can only describe at the biggest queue I have ever seen to check our bags in. this might be a slight exaggeration but with the current mood not great and the need for that first pint in the airport it certainly felt like it. we waited about an hour before checking our bags which didn’t leave us much time to get to the bar before we took off. We headed straight to the bar and got a pint. This was when all was made good between us, we had a beer in our hand and were heading to the place that we both love so much.
The flight was very good, we had a few more drinks and got chatting to a really nice middle aged man who was going with his wife. I couldn’t help but picture me and my girlfriend having the same conversation in 20 years’ time with a young couple going away to get smashed for the week.
We landed at about 12:00 got our bags with no issues and then a 10 minute taxi to our hotel. This was the first time I had stayed here so wasn’t sure what to expect. With check in at 14:00 we put our bags in a locked room in the hotel which I liked know they were locked and then headed to Bora Bora. We picked up some beers and chilled out while waiting for our room.
It felt so good to be back and we just sat taking it all in having a laugh and joke. Before we knew it it was 15:00 so we headed back to the hotel to check in. On our way we purchased our tickets for Ushuaia and also got some little “hello Kittys” I’m very glad we got these from this guy because we went back to him every day thereafter but more about those Kittys later.
Back to hotel got our bags and then to the room, I have to say very impressed with the hotel. We didn’t pay a lot so didn’t expect much. The pool area was great, nice double beds to lounge on and bit of music nothing to heavy but a decent sound track while chilling in the pool. The room was nice, balcony overlooking the pool only problem was no fridge but we knew we wouldn’t have one.
We spent the rest of the afternoon around the pool drinking and chatting with a few of the other guests. All the other guest there for the same thing but no one was too rowdy so it was a nice chilled atmosphere.
We headed to Ushuaia for 18:00 because we wanted to catch Magda, in fact we were going for Magda I’m a big fan seen her a few times on Minus nights and a few times for different promotions. I was expecting a lot of dolly birds and lots of posing people. I knew Antz would have less of this than any other but I still thought there would be a lot. I couldn’t have been more wrong the crowd were fantastic, really up for it and no idiots.
I should mention at this point that I had taken one of those hello kittys as we 20 mins before we left the hotel for Ushuaia. We had been in there for about 20 minutes had a look around and got a beer. I must say I was very impressed with the place, loved the dj being at the back during the day. I think if the dj had been on the main stage the who time it wouldn’t have worked as well for an underground party like Antz.
There I am telling my girlfriend “these pills are shit, guess we’ll have to try and get some from someone else tomorrow. Not wasting more money buying shit in here.” 5 minutes after that I was having one of the most intense come ups of my life. I grabbed my girlfriends arm and said something like “I was wrong they are good, get one down you now and wait for it.” Sure enough she was in the same place as I was within an hour. The music was great I’m not one for knowing the names of tunes but know what I like and Magda was providing this for us. We got chatting to a couple of lads who were really sound; we spent most of the night with them having a good dance and laugh.
Next up Uner, I’d heard of him but never heard any his sets. I was very impressed he stepped it up a notch after Magda and got the place jumping. I know I said I don’t know the names of tunes but I do know some old classics and when he dropped Body Language by Booka Shade it went off. Me and H (my girlfriend) were in a very happy place loving life.
The music then moved to the main stage, by this point I was smashed so don’t recall too much apart from being smacked in the chest by the base by the first tune and then the lights and piros got in the mix. It was a great start to the holiday. We got back to the hotel for just after midnight and H was wiped out. I went outside for a smoke and when I came back she was fast asleep.
I on the other hand was smashed but there was no way I could sleep so gently woke H up telling her I was going out, I didn’t want her to wonder where I was if she woke up in the night. Off I went in search of some wonky stuff and to have a beer and take in some of the sites. I found myself in a bar near Sankeys. Got speaking to the PR and got sorted. I decided to stay in there watch some football highlights.
I had a great time speak to the PR lads and ended up going out for beers with them to Discopub 21 when they finished. Good lads and didn’t mind a smashed up idiot joining them.
I got back to the hotel at 6:00 and ended up falling asleep on the chair on the balcony with a lighter in on hand and cig in the other. This is how H found me at 9:00 and moved me into the bed.
I think that’s enough for anyone to read for one day. I’ll put more up when I get chance. I didn’t know if I would write a review as I’ve read some many good ones and not done it before but I have enjoyed recalling my first day. Only problem is, I want to go back for closing but more selfish friends getting married at the end of the summer.
