After a false start, the plane had 12 hours delay, I landed in Ibiza. straight to the Jet apartments where Fusion and his lovely girlfriend were waiting for me. A quick shower and the obligatory drinks later we were on our way to Pacha to shake that ass to the tunes of Eric Morillo. After hearing him tear up the terrace of Space I had huge expectations, can't really remember much of that night but I know I lost it when he played Red Carpets Alright. I mase some Spanish friends and I can remember talking to the bouncer in Spanish It is such a shame that the disco had to shut at 6am because i really had fun. So back to PDB for some hours sleep and then of to the afterparty at Space. I can out of the apartment and guess what. I met some people that I was dancing with the previous night. If they remember you from the past night, that must be a good thing right? So of to Space with the other Space cadets to hear Morillo and Harry ChooChoo Romero closing the terrace. The people (not that much) were really up for it and the tunes where brilliant. But after 12 it started to empty up an at two it was almost empty. So back to apartments and then driving around to get the press passes for the DJ Awards. The Pacha hotel interior is stunning, it is so white must be hard to such a bright room when I had a hard time. (BTW they have a fridge with Red Bulls in the lobby for free). After picking up the Press passes (thank you Georgia ) back to PDB for some food and mad it back to Pacha at 10h30 for some delicous snacks straight from the Pache restaurant. Come on free drinks and food and good music, why didn't I book Pacha self as accommodation for my trip. BTW Paris, the Pacha Girls looked amazing . Then it was time to get ready for the awards itself straight after the tricks by one of the Pacha girl (former gymnastic according to Pacha magazine). The awards were a bit boring, no one was clapping and cheering and it is a bit of a sell out. But I'm still happy that some people who deserve it got an award such as Alfredo and DJ Oliver of Amnesia. And on came Danny Rampling with a brilliant last set in Ibiza. We said hi to Ferry Corsten, after a round of "How do i get the attention of a world famous DJ" and I must say Ferry was a brilliant man and took the time to have a chat with us. Made some pictures to prove it that I really talked to ferry, I think I can call him ferry by now or even Fer. I'm loosing the plot ... Back to the main room for a set of the famous DJ, we didn't knew the name of and met various times; no he doesn't work in a restaurant near the port . Then a small concert by the BodyRockers which was mind blowing, some anthems and hard riffs and very enjoyable monkey trick in the dj boot. After the rock music it was time for some Swedish i don't like the crowd by Eric Prydz. He is a. very shy or b. emotion-less. I think option b is the one. I really was disappointed by his set. Everyone was waiting for some "call on me" tribute and instructor from the clip on stage but she never appeared. very strange that he didn't got the crowd of and refused to play call on me. So at 6, by now I really started to get annoyed by this new law, we left Pacha and hit back home for some time at the beach and a visit to Bora Bora later on.
What to do on a friday do Pete Tong or save the energy? We opted for the second and visited El Devino, which was empty by 2 o'clock but hear a nice sat by Baby J. and then of to the check out the new bird in town Penelope. Penelope was rammmmmmed. No space what so ever and some minimal techno played by Miss Heidi, move over Monika Kruse we have a new comer Mixing was sometimes a bit off and by the end I really had it with Penelope. I will check it out next year when I'm not that tired and do my homework on the minimal techno stuff. Weird stuff.
Saturday arrived way to soon and so it was time for matinee. Music was very good especially the PA and the Space residents (think Jose? :s) at 5 the place was really going off and I found that Ibiza vibe again, where you wanna hug everybody. Music was insane (check out the vids later on) I really lost it when they played The sun rising up and a lotta lovin (which I gave and received ) even the obligatory Italian sit down and jump up was perfect. Only minor thing is that i looked small and eeuh weak. Damned everyone had a biceps twice the size of mine so when they threw some T-shirt in the crowd it was time to duck or get crushed by a young Sylvester Stallone. Must be hard to throw shapes with those huge biceps Nevertheless music was good. After Matinee came some crashing at Bora Bora and then of to bed and meeting my room mate for 2 days.
Space Closing was brilliant, DJ Oliver resident of Amnesia played the best set I heard in Ibiza. Truly amazing! Closing of space terrace was also huge, first you see the first light come through the darkness and then it becomes clear, brilliant feeling and absolutely lost it when Mr. Morillo played “Keep on Jumping” which was absolutely nuts together with the Tim Deluxe remix of Seven Nation Army. Feeling I will never forget. On the way back talking about how good it was and getting ready for a few hours bed and of to DC10. IT IS MAD! Looks like they have a party in a mental institution. People were carrying stuff like it was the last belonging on earth. Hilarious stuff and a nice crowed. Said goodbye at 11h to DC10 and Titus, who didn’t wanted to go home. We nearly convinced you to stay
Tuesday was the relaxo day and headed of to cala ???? for a chilled afternoon and a sunset at Mambo. Then of to Ibiza town and saying goodbye to Fusion and his girlfriend. Wednesday was a beach day for me and a day to admire the beauty that Ibiza is. Drove of to see a sunset at and climb the pirate tower. On the way back I almost died because we kind of lost the way :s but the views and the piccies made it all good and of course the beer Then of to closing of Bora Bora but I was to tired to stay long and I had a ferry waiting for me. Getting up way to early and heading into the cold night to Ibiza harbour and 2 hours later arrived in Mallorca. I have a bit mixed feelings about Mallorca. The old part was very beautiful but due to a lack of funds I ended up in the Westend of Mallorca and really was sad because Mallorca really has more to offer. Visit the museo with very nice mural paintings and an exposition of Salvador Dali! So guys if you go to Mallorca make sure you stay in a good part and that you visit the nice island and don’t forget to visit the old city centre it is worth it! After another short night I arrived back in Belgium.
