Saturday 17th September

Woke at 4am  to get to the airport for our 7am flight.
Which, when we got there, had turned into a 10am flight
Which, by the time we got to the departure gate was 11am

This meant that we arrived in mid-afternoon as opposed to a lunchtime arrival. Slight rain on arrival but by the time we got to our accomodation it had cleared up...

Aparthotel Bahia was an excellent choice. Perfectly located and a lovely place to stay. Massive room (inc. double balcony big enough for a game of 5-a-sides).

More bad luck in the form of our "in apartment" music. Brought the Logic3 iStation, brought the iPod, brought the euro lead for it but......forgot the Power pack - after shouting obscentites for a while i remembered that it takes batteries - joy!!

Had dinner nearby in a wee restaurant GLASS and then decided to go to MAMBO for a drink....more fool us.

While sitting at the lower deck of Mambo the rain came on  which then turned into a torrent. Most of Mambo was getting showered so we bailed at the first let up in the showers and headed home to sleep off the early morning airport delay.

Sunday 18th September

We awake to have a glorious view of........pouring rain. Not what is supposed to happen.

It eases off by lunchtime so we say..lets head for lunch and maybe we'll get some pool time after that

Lunch in ORANGE CORNER was good, unfortunately it started pissing down again! Even under the covers we were soaked, back to the Bahia it was.

Decide to sleep to mark time but by dinnertime it was clear again. Just went to a nearby place for a quick bite.

More bad luck - i threw a (what i thought) was a shaving gel - turns out to be an after shave gel... Aargh - had to shave with soap!

Get ready for Space and go down near 10pm to get a taxi - having watched several come and go at the apts - we ask at the desk - nearly 10:30 before we get one!! and we arrive to the Space carpark swimming pool

WE LOVE...SPACE was amazing, the djs were good (not too exciting tho) David Guetta & Fatboy Slim - but the new terraza is unbelievable - the soundsystem is a million times better and the atmosphere was tremendous (although the bar prices are still outrageous)

Managed to meet up with Robo & RachelJ, Fergie19 & his brother Chris, Sarah & Tom & Jamie andSwiss Taff - all lovely people, although my attempts at using Jack Daniels as a way of catching up to them in the not-quite-straight stakes meant that i managed to blow all my dosh!!

Monday 19th September

Finally - SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

V Hot indeed and after last night at Space we welcomed to the heat to chill at the pool - great pool at the Bahia, quiet with just a hint of music in the background, exactly what we were looking for.

Lunchtime meant a trip to the nearby BAR M - Nandos is always a favourite of mine and once again the extra-hot chicken didn't disappoint. The service, however, was appalling - 1 waitress, who instead of serving insisted on moaning about her being the only waitress.

For dinner we splashed out at the BANYAN PALACE - tucked just off the ain road round in San Antonio Bay. This place should be a must on your eateries list for Ibiza. Sumptuous decor and casual, friendly staff make it a lovely place to eat. The food is exceptional as well and although a bit more expensive than the standard places to eat - its not too pricey

Headed to BAR M after this to catch some of tha Manumission pre-party, Ewan Pearson providing some excellent music to drink to!

Tuesday 20th September

Another glorious day at the pool. Lunch was at the BAY BAR and although the food was good, I felt that the waitress was grudginly serving us - not quite the embarrasment that Bar M was but not good anyway.

Went to Ibiza Town for the evening. A little pizza restaurant called PINOCHOES, the best pizza we've ever had then some quality drinks at BASE. Was rather quiet in Ibiza Town but it was a lovely night. Bumped into Fergie19 & Chris again, we were heading back to the Bahia - they were going for more carnage.

Wednesday 21st September

After another sun soaked day we had lunch in Orange Corner for lunch again, sitting across from us - Fergie & Chris!!! straight from another Extasis session, mentalists

Decided to do a sunset night and opted to give MAMBO another chance food-wise. Service was miles better than in previous years and the food was lovely, not tremedous but lovely.

A lovely sunset followed by some cracking tunes from Steve Angello and a fair few Jacks &/or Hierbas!

Note - please please please stop clapping the sunset, its nature not a performance (even more pleases for the whooping and wailing a la American golf fans - not required)

Back to the apts to find that although my mate Kevin McFarlane isn't doing Creams closing - he has put us on the guestlist.

Thursday 22nd September

Unfortunately the idyllic Bahia was spoiled today. Woke to have 4 Non Blondes - Whats Going On (the Hardcore version) booming out from our musically challenged neighbours). Lunch again at BAR M (we even got a smile this time) and we return to find a group of Welsh Boys intent on ruining everyone at the pools day. Shouting, abusing people (esp girls) and generally trying to trash the place. 1 of these "people" was so drunk that he lay naked (at his mates doing) for ages until they set fire to his genitals and he leaped into the pool! This clown then spent the rest of the afternoon screaming at the rest of the pool area for someone to fight him - luckily none of the more muscled dudes at the pool took him up on it.

Dinner at JACKIE BROWNS - lovely grub and cheap too and then we went to Cream!!!

Bar M first for some pre-party action and then about 2am we sneaked onto the free bus. Got to the guest queue only to find we weren't guest list but Paying guest list  20€ for something i wouldn't have gone to otherwise! esp with the chav making herself throw up in the queue!

Headed for the terrace and was great to hear Yousef playing some cracking house music. Not so good was the sullen barperson charging us 28€ for 2 drinks  makes Space look reasonable. After having to part with cash to get in and the drinks prices - bang went getting drunk that night. Also a major annoyance was the fact that you cannot get diet coke there - being diabetic this is a major issue and one that Amnesia have no argument for given the severity of the drinks prices (1 Jack Daniels & Coke = 15€)

Shapeshifters replaced Yousef and the night went downhill. OK as they were it was like Amnesias version of Groove Armada. Simply taking it too easy - no challenges. How they could be headlining over a talent like Yousef is beyond me. We popped into the main room and its still a disappointment to me. I went for Oakenfold & Warren in 98 and the main room was amazing. Not being into trance i found the music boring and the place once again far too busy.

Friday 23rd September

With it being a cloudy day and the idiots at the pool yesterday we took some time to get some gifts for loved ones and generally chilled out today.

For dinner we were going to try the new Tex-Mex place near Savannah but wanting to be at Mambo for the Essential Selection we had dinner early and found the place closed!

SAVANNAH was therefore given the chance to rescue themselves after last years poor effort and they didn't disappoint - great service and cracking food (better portions than last year)

Bumped into Swiss Taff again and with him being such a cracking bloke it was a welcomed bump. :D

However, more disappointment at Mambos. With a clouded sunset (the dj played the weird chilled woman-vocal version of Blue Monday twice in 10 mins!) - i think the dj tried to judge when the sun would disappear!

After the clapping & cheering of Wednesday, i threatened to actually start booing the sunset with it being a clouded disappointment.

Expecting to hear the Essential Selection was a bit poor not to get a Tong session!

After a couple of drinks we decided to head back to the apts (heading for Plastik first but it wasn't opened yet) so that we could get some rest before the early start

Saturday 24th September

Up at 8:30

Then off to the airport - this time hassle free
Flight slightly delayed in take off due to a mix up with passenger numbers but a quick flight home and we were back in Scotland

Missing Ibiza already!

Best bit of the week: Food @ Banyan Palace and Pinochoes / meeting up with the lovely Spotlighter / new space terrace

Worst bit of week: Shapeshifters @ Cream / the idiots arriving at the apts / Amnesias drink prices and lack of diet coke
