how is everyone's ibiza 2004 going so far? im going out to ibiza on the 31st of july and i was wondering what the atmosphere on the island is like this year? is everyone having a belter taking over dancefloors up and down ibiza? is the music as good as ever? and are the best dj's in the world living up to their billing?

I went for a week for Openings in June, the island was busy but nicely busy, you had room to dance in Space etc. The atmosphere was great and everyone was really up for it.

None of the DJs we saw dissapointed, everyone was spot-on, also am glad to see some DJs embracing different styles of music cos last year I thought a lot of the music was very samey whatever night you went to (I mean how many times do you want to hear JJ&KC and Lee Cabrera  )

yeah, i see what you mean, because the music makes or breaks a night and if it becomes repetitive over the course of a week or two i imagine it would get a bit boring. if the dj's play different styles and mix it up a bit then it does liven things up!
I cant wait to get there now! 19 days to go til i dance my arse off!

we touch down about 2am saturday night/sunday morning, what do you reckon? dump the bags and straight to the nearest party???

I completely agree, I think a lot of the promoters play it safe with line-ups, last year I got Pacha-ed out, we were going there most nights and hearing the same old same old tunes again and again

Re your first night, we normally have a Sat night flight, these days I prefer to unpack, chill with a few glasses of wine and get some sleep before Space on Sunday, it depends how hardcore you are ;)

a few of the lads want to drop the bags and get straight out but i fancy hitting we love sundays @ space for about 11am, and staying out for many many hours! i suppose we'll just go with the flow and make sure its a stormer whatever option.

That's what we're like, I like to appreciate Space to its full effect, I've been there too many times after a Saturday night out and ended up being a casualty  8O

Have breakfast and a couple of wines (or smoothies  ) at Passion before you hit Space, will set you up perfectly for the day :D ;)

I got back after 12 days on 6 July.

On the positive side, Bora Bora is absolutely slamming, though I thought that it has started to really get going about 5-6pm this year, slightly later....a lot more people seem to be turning up at night as a pre-club venue.

DC10 was also a definate highlight, and I enjoyed Defected at El Divino.

I have to say I was disappointed with WLS at Space....I was shocked by the lack of volume on the terrace at about 5pm, honestly you could hear everyone's conversations around you and some faint beats in the background or so it felt.

Complaints - way too many blokes this year, I have a girlfriend so its not because of competition I say that but because it upsets the gender balance and it can be intimidating for some girls if they are constantly hassled (and others love it I know!). And moody staff, especially Space security as ever and Bora bar staff.

Despite those moans, Ibiza is still No 1 for me and we had a brilliant time.

Space and DC10 opening were great! I believe the board's star DJ Stu Hirst, decribed them as "sick" and "off the hook" respectively

I normally go to Ibiza in June and September and it's normally a bit cooler so I can't really compare, one year I did go in August and found the clubs too packed and hot :?

coooool .. hopefuly it'll get cooler next month or so ..

u definatly deserve the "Quickest-Reply Award" lol ...

agree with most of the above... bora bora as always... circo loco was cool... after party in ciaou rosina (?) was really good!... didn't bother with wls... stumbled across a nice little party @ km5...

the reports all seem to be very positive clubbing wise at the mo. usually there are the usual doom merchants/scaremongering but they haven't reared their ugly head as of yet.

I'll try to keep this short :p

Things I liked:

- Sundays@Space, loved Steve Lawlers set the 4th of July!
- La Comunidad on fridaynights at Space, really nice crowd and pumping techno, nice underground feel to it.
- Meganite Opening party, great set by Picotto he appeared to definetely enjoy it himself too.
- My appartement at Playa d'en Bossa and the fact that Bora Bora was less then 20 metres away from it ;)
- The friends i've made
- The scooters me and a friend rent so we could actually SEE something of the island itself, it's just beautiful! Watch out though the things are bl**dy dangerous :)

Things I didn't really like:

- Roger Sanchez' Release Yourself party, just didn't do it for me, even left before it ended..
- Some barpersonel, especially some staff at Bora Bora. Waiting 15 minutes for some service while it's not even busy and then see them chat to their friends for 10 more while appearing to look straight trough any customer is just plain rude. I have a lot of patience especially on a holiday but it happened several times and that really pissed me and several others off.
- ..... that's all! Just a really really fantastic holiday, I want to go back NOW :P
