This mini break combined my Stag Do, a friends birthday, a friends new baby arrival, a freinds new business venture and an excuse to go on holiday with a friend we hadn't been away with for nearly 15 years (he needed a celebration of some kind as he felt he was missing out ).
Thursday
Two of us took the early morning easyjet flight from stansted (what a joy, airport quite quiet as your the 4th flight out!), everything was going swimmingly until we got the the departure gate and realised we had a bunch of funked up (wait until your there!!!!) fellas who quite frankly gave brittsh fellas going abroad a bad name, we then said to ourselves this isn't going to be a quite flight..........and we were right, numerous abuse to the cabin staff, steeling of beers etc from the mini bar and joining of the 'bugle mile high club', there moto not mine and all this around innocent families with kids . The plane landed and the boisterous behaviour continued in the luggage hall to the disgust of us and many other people on our plane.
We managed to to get our luggage and moved to the taxi queue which was a mile long so opted for a bus to eivissa and then got a taxi to our home for the next few days, the Ebano Apartments in PDB.
We've used the Ebano before and for £30/night each its very clean, quiet (albeit a family hotel) and the staff are very helpful and polite, I'd recommend it to anyone as a cheap base camp.
We dumped our luggage and headed to off to grab some breakie and then spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool in the sun.
In the early evening we had a call from a friend out there met for a drink and then headed to Bora Bora for the evenings entertainment.......now I must admit I was a little disappointed with Bora Bora, the music was very up and down, when it was good it was very good but when it was bad its was shocking, however the atmosphere was still there and we made the most of it, we saw some old faces and then headed home about 3ish to grab some sleep before the others arrived and the chaos ensued!!!!
Friday
We were awoken by the arrival call as expected and then before we knew it that we at our front door.......now we had all good intentions of having a relaxed start to the day but this lasted for about 1/2 hour, after that it started to go downhill ..........alot of wrongness ensued and before we knew it the sun was going down and the night was upon us (little bits of sun were seen throughtout the day between apartment hopping and pool jumping....the normals on there holiday must have thought we were a little mad ). We had already decided that we were going to El Divino for Miss Moneypennies that evening due to our varied music tastes, one of our party opted against it due to tenderness of the days activities so four of us headed to The Rock Bar for pre drinks and then on to the club. I'll tell you now it was the worst night I have ever had out at a club in eivissa, the music was **** (Jim 'Shaft' Ryan needs to get his head out of his arse and learn to see how the crowd reacts to the music ), the atmosphere was **** and the people were **** (except for the Fashion TV lot, who were very attractive and polite at the same time )......we decided to move on home after hurling the words 'rubbish' towards the DJ booth and sticking a mighty two fingers up at thier performance!!
Saturday
We woke, went for food and then headed for Bora Bora for a couple of afternoon drinks, now the idea was that we would be going out to KM5 in the evening for food so we'd have an easy one...........hmmmm, this soon went a little wrong after the first few drinks and then we were back in the party mood again. Lots of spanish down there due to Matinee being on in the morning/afternoon, spoke to quite alot who said it was very good indeed however very busy. Bora Bora was alot better than the day we arrived, we met lots of nice people down there (mainly women ) and had numerous garbled conversations and somehow manged to get hijcaked by two parties into going to Hed Kandi with them that evening...........now I'm not an avid fan of Hed Kandi but went with the crowd I was with for ease and lack of arguements (I'd have preffered Def Mix or the original idea of KM5). We met said people in eivissa and headed to the club......the place was rammed full of San An crowd however I was pleasantly suprised by the music, alot tougher than I expected and far superior to the night before. We stayed there for a few hours and then got hijacked again to go back to ES Vive for afterhours. I thought Es Vive was a pile of poo with alot of pretentious cocks (with exception to the people we were with) and it was very overpriced for drinks, stayed for an hour or so and then headed back to get some shut eye for Space.
Sunday
This is the one I was really waiting for, purely for musical reasons rather than anything else. I woke feeling a little tender but was still keen for it. We went for food and the headed there about 4.30pm. The sunset terrace was already rocking however it was unbelievably hot so we opted to go up stairs to Premier Etage to have a couple of drinks and get some air, lots of casualties up there which amused us highly and some good house music to while away a couple of hours, we popped to the Red Box room which was really good music, probably the best I had heard all holiday and deserved its place in a bigger room. We popped into the new terrace when it opened, nice and cool in there but the music was very flat (like it was for the whole time we were in Space), not to sure who was playing but it defo wasn't lawler or miss kitten. We opted to go back to the Sunset terrace for most of the evening where the atmosphere was really good, lots of hands (and drinks ) in the air moments and craziness had by all. We ended the night upstairs doing the Ibiza Gas Balloons , give them a try if you get the chance, I could imagine on the main dancefloor they would be even more amusing. Headed out at about 1.30am for a couiple of beers and then head home as 3 of our party had the early monday flight to catch.
Monday
We said goodbye to our friends, got some more sleep, ate some breakie then had a few hours by the pool. We had already decided to have a relaxing evening but it was further enforced by myself coming down with a horrible cold/flu symptons passed onto me by one of the lads who brought it with him on Friday!!!!!! However I got myself out of bed and we headed to eivissa for a nice meal at La Marina resturant opposite the port and then home to bed as we were on the early flight the next day.
Tuesday
Flight this time was fine however for half of it I wish they could have landed anywhere so I could just get off, felt very ill indeed. Got home spent all day in bed, saw my good lady who kicked me back into bed when she got home from work as she thought I looked like death warmed up.
All in all a good break had by all, met lots of nice people and crazy ones however this will be my last time going (had already decided this prior to going) due to other priorities in my life, marraige, babies etc.
Here's my ups and downs (more of these I'm afraid) of the island since my last visit in 2005.
Ups
Friendly people - especially the spanish
Drinks Prices - no movement in the prices at our regular haunts
Downs
Apparent use of drugs (and availability of them)- every funking tout you walk by ask you if they can 'help' you in anyway!
English louts giving us a bad name - they are everywhere, not appreciating the music, just going to see how many drugs and drink they can throw down thier necks.
Music - Not great this year, I may have picked bad nights/days but it was lacking something....plus there were to many remixes of tracks out 10 years ago!!
I'll be totally honest, I do think the place is in decline and I think if things don't change it will be its own worst enemy when it comes to the type of tourism it generates.
