Here's a brief review of my week in Ibiza;
Late flight in on the Saturday night got to Ibizamar about 4.30 am after picking up car/meeting coach etc
Get up on the Sunday at 10.00 am get down to PDB for 12.00 am and meet up for a few vodkas/food and to get tickets for WLS. Get over to Space at about 1.30. Spent the next seven hours on the terrace and it was awesome. Ulysees was good but Tom Novy was the dogs nuts. Fantastic atmosphere met loads of friendly randoms and met up with (I think) the infamous Barbie (the huge mad sunglasses thru me!!) I was getting increasingly funked up by this point and things got a little vague but I may have met Synch on the dancefloor (were you wearing a black vest??)
Me and the Stags left Space at about 9.00 am and went and got some food and it all went downhill from there.....went back into Space for about an hour but found the inside a bit too intense for our frazzled brains. Its had a lovely refit though.
Decided to have a quiet Monday so spent the afternoon in Cala Bassa then just watched the football in San An Bay and then went over to Cafe Mambo for a few drinks with some friends.
Tuesday went to Salinas for the day then did the Sunset bars.....what a waste of time Cafe Del Mar is now, people standing in front of you just as the sun goes down, people getting moved off the rocks so some pikie fire-eaters can prance about, glass bottomed 18-30 boats parking up right in your view and people clapping the sun going down!! Funk right off!! We then went down to the West End for a typical stag night out
Went to Subliminal on Wednesday by accident!! We went for a meal in Ibiza Town in the evening followed by a few quiet drinks at Base Bar and ending up meeting a group of Swiss girls. After a few too many shots decided to go with them to Pacha at about 4.15 am!! We only stayed an hour as we had all drunk so much we were becoming a liability...doh!! Just say no to alcohol!!
Thursday watched the football in San An Bay which was terrible and the atmoshere was really dodgy in San An so we went over to Ibiza Town for a few beers before Cream Opening. Went to Amnesia at about 1.00 am on Thursday...a few too many beer boys but we had a fantastic time. Spent most of our time in the terrace where it has a more clubby cosmopolitan vibe. The Audio Bully's played well in there and they seemed up for it but Seb Fontaine who played before them was amazing!! He tore the roof off the terrace...I have never really liked him before but his set was a blinder...playing Tear for Fears over Shapeshifters, Depeche Mode "Just Can't Get Enough", Planet Funk, Scissor Sisters, Soul Central "Strings of Life" superb mixing and really worked the crowd well. Perhaps he decided after losing his job at Radio One to concentrate on his club DJing....it was our favourite set of the week....and I never thought I'd say that about him. Tall Paul finished off the inside of Amnesia at about 7.15 with loads of overlaid mixes of French Kiss but although he was good Seb Fontaine kicked his ass.
Went to Pure Pacha on Friday night and had a good time although a few too many tourists in there. We spent most of our time on the upstairs terrace with a hen party we had met up with. I thought Pete Tong's set was pretty good, not as cheesy as he can be....and I loved the Hip Hop room and as always the layout of the place. With the red chandeliers all over the place its got a really sort of cool/decadent vibe going on. Got back from Pacha at 8.30 am then had to be out of the Ibizmar at 12.00 am so went to the villa in Es Canar of someone we had met for the rest of our day before our flight back to Gatwick at 3.30 am.
Flight was interesting filled with casualties and some who were clearly still fired up....
Will post some photos soon.
Tunes of the week....obviously "Lola's Theme".... yawn played to death constantly its even in every shop/taxi/KFC/elevator you go in.....other big tunes seem to be David Guetta "Little More Love", Flower Power "FLower Power" and the Scissor Sisters remix is it called "Laura" or something...all caned to death..
Friendliest Nationalities ....the Swiss and the Americans.
