1 Day Road Trip Around Ibiza

I’m planning to go on a 1 day road trip around the island next year starting at the crack of dawn by Es Vedra and driving up past Santa Eulalia, on to Cala Sant Vincente, around the top and down past the port of Sant Miguel and then finish with sunset by Sunset Ashram.

I’m aware you can’t see everything and all of the island in 1 day but that’s all we are able to do and want to get the most out of it as possible so am just curious on people’s thoughts. Any tips on places to go for nice views/sights or nice bars and towns would be great!!

And also if you think this is completely ridiculous let me know but we only want let’s say a snap shot of as much as possible and don’t intend to spend hours in any one destination.

3 days minimum for car tour of island, if you want to take stuff in that is. I did the spotlight tours in 2013
As I said I only have 1 day to do it, I know more would be better but have to make the most of the situation so if we can’t take everything in so be it got plenty of years ahead to come back and do longer.

All we want is just want and overview of everything really so for when we come back we can go back to these places and properly take them in

Not ridiculous at all. I always take A few days where I drive to lots of different places. I like finding the types of places you just go to experience the silence, like for example Cala dalbarca, Es Vedra viewpoints etc but I don’t like hanging about I’d rather go somewhere else in between like a village and have a cocktail, or il go to a beach for 2 hours. And driving around is so nice. But maybe I would go San Miguel, Cala st v, Santa eulalia, Es vedra then finish at Cala conta.saying that you also have to time it by what time of year because I would dread to think what parking would be like at EV and CC during any time other than early May/October!

Well just do one of the car tours then. You won’t fit it in in one day.

Enjoy your day out - I would suggest a stop off at Santa Gertrudis - easy to get parked (free) & a lovely place to walk around & have a cool drink or a bite to eat.

He won’t be getting out of his car.

So between getting up and leaving at 6am and being on the road moving around for 14 hours you don't think we will have time to get out and do anything? I have looked on a route planner and the drive from Es Vedra to Sunset Ashram via Cala Llonga, santa eularial, cala de sant Vincent, port de sant Miguel, Santa Gertrudis and then ending up Sunset Ashram is only a 2 and a half hour drive so even if its a 4 hour drive that's 10 hours to get out and do things.

I no people who follow the sun around all day north south east and west.. you will see alot in one day..

You will be able to get out and do stuff I always do drives like this, if you plan stuff well and use a map you can fit loads in

it's gonna turn into a really long day, but it's totally doable. here's my recommendation on how to...

  • start with checking the sunrise on top of sa talaia - ibiza's highest point. a road gets you up there and IMO it's a fantastic place to check out the sunrise. you won't actually see the sunrise from cala d'hort.
  • then drive to cala d'hort to see es vedra and have a first dip.
  • next stop should be the sleepy village of es cubells with its church. great views from there and I'd recommend having breakfast there at the local bar.
  • then I'd quickly drive over to salinas and drive up into the hills to see the salt flats from above. it's a must-see IMO (detail instructions via private message)
  • santa gertrudis is a good shot indeed - it is a lovely place. get some montaditos at bar costas.
  • then drive further up north, maybe stop for a quick swim at cala nova or cala boix
  • continue north, the curviest 30mins of roads (I love them) are located between aguas blancas and san juan (via cala san vicente). then I'd head to portinatx for another swim stop because what follows later hasn't got a lot of beaches.
  • once you head for port of san miguel and then onto san mateo / santa agnes and then into san antonio, this is the 'es amunts' area - the rural and very green part of ibiza. make sure you stop by puertas del cielo for a cool beer (a little outside santa agnes, you'll find it)
  • continue to cala conta for another swim stop
  • finish your tour seeing the sunset from 'ibiza henge' which isn't too far from there but not as packed as cala conta.

Wow you absolute legend! That's perfect. Thanks Stivi!!

Don't drink alcohol
Don't be chinned from night before
Respect others on the roads and village..
And be careful of ramdoms looking for lifts even if they are Brazilian goddesses..;)

Wont be drinking other than a nice cold beer to end the trip, having a nice quite early night the night before and of course I will always respect others on the roads and will never pick up anyone!
