What Are You Listening To Right Now??

George Fitzgerald b2b with Sasha on radio 1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07xd397

It's unusual for me to go to a programme on radio 1 and not want to tear my ears off due to giggly presenters, but this is good so far.

Radio 1? Is that still 'a thing'?

Only joking. (I think) i certainly lost interest after Peel died. Or I got too old. Dunno. I think a lot of people hitting their 30s in the mid 2000s suddenly, belatedly realised that it was no longer aimed at us, this thing we'd grown up with since forever, and there were suddenly all these new options. Having said that, our natural 'home' BBC6 is just a bit too chummy - Laverne and her backstage mates daily love in. All a bit too much. So I gave up on the BBC altogether. musical needs served elsewhere on a thousand different podcasts (one of which I will start presenting myself in the new year - more on that nearer the time)

I only really listen to 6, but occasionally I'll become aware of something on radio 1 that I should have listened to. (6 isn't quite as good as it should be when it come to dance music IMO.) There was a decent programme recently that had Benji B co-presenting with Thom Yorke.

Thom Yorke certainly has interesting taste in music, probably why Radiohead continue to make interesting music. There was a 6 Music interview "the first time..." with Ed O'Brien at the weekend (worth a listen) and there's talk of Thom co-presenting with Gilles Peterson in the near future. That should be a good show.
