roughly translated the clubs say the boats dont have guidelines guaranteeing the safety of the clubbers. funny, how does amnesia guarentee my safety at the overcrowded terrace during the closing or cream for instance?

@minimarc - the boats usually have the deals with the promoters, not the venue.

Party Pooper!
The GEN Nature Studies Group alerted the Consell of the proposed visit of a "party" boat to the protected area near es Vedrá last Thursday, having gleaned the information from advertising on the internet. The Guardia Civil and Customs officers were given orders to stop the fiesta which was to be conducted aboard the "Mojo", a retired naval minesweeper now converted into a floating discotheque which has spent many days docked in the bay of San Antonio. When the agents arrived one hundred party goers had just been transported by catamaran and a second group of two hundred was due to join them before setting off to the area which is included in the nature reserve. The motley crew of sailors and organizers were swiftly ordered to return their passengers to port, although it has not been clarified if they were sanctioned financially.

^^ I for one won't shed any tears if they do ban them. Nothing worse than having your nice tranquil late afternoon kayak home from Atlantis broken up by "boom boom boom" and a load of screaming and yelling coming from a party boat headed out to the Marine Reserve.

Party Boats
At a meeting between the mayors of the various boroughs and the President of the Consell, Vicent Serra, last week, it was agreed that it is absolutely essential for the activities of these ‘floating discotheques’ to be controlled to a greater extent than they are at present. Although some effort has been made, with the insistence that railings are sufficiently high to avoid the possibility of people accidently falling into the sea, and the incorporation of security personnel on board, the regulations need to be taken further. The President said that it is hoped that these parties will not have to be prohibited but the organizers need to do their part and exercise stricter controls, adding that it is easy to carry out inspections while the boats are still in the harbour, but not while they are out at sea, when the volume of the music is frequently raised considerably and drink and other substances flow freely.

as legitimate it is that boat parties need more regulation in this case I think it's unfair to blame the boat party per se. not only did this moron do crystal and on a boat - but even jumped into the cold water in his state. safe to say that with this disgusting stuff he may have jumped off a cliff or ran into a car as well :(

Post mortem due today, local government launched police investigation

Wouldnt bother me if they stopped the boat parties alltogether, ever really liked them and I have done a few, I much prefer a quieter experience when out on a boat.

I remember a few years ago I went on a sunset boat trip, was really nice, playing cafe del mar style music etc, then a boat party pulled up near us blasting out The Vengaboys! Totally ruined the atmosphere, I wouldnt have minded so much if it had been a decent/more current tune!

wouldn't say i'm in favour of banning them
but the sheer numbers of them now is staggering

are they full most of the time?

are they full most of the time?

it's the same as with the club nights at the moment. too much on offer makes some of them suffer. people do not seem to realise there's limits in terms of numbers coming to the island!

thats what i was thinking
saturation

might take a season to have the less popular ones filtered out then

five boat parties (one in pdb and four in san an) were raided on friday. there was three denounces for the low quality of the drinks they were serving and two for not informing to the authorities about their activity:
