What effect does club life have on your health?

Inspired by another thread by someone who mentioned doing drugs fortnightly for a decade 8O
It got me wondering what effect does clubbing have on someone? I'm NOT talking about any drugs or even alcohol, I've never been into either, I'm talking about night after night going nocturnal, sleepless nights, week long party fests etc, how does this affect the body clock? And what about the atmosphere of a big club itself, what does this do to the body?

Just curious

of course bad sleeping patterns affect the body.... guess we'll find out when we're 60 if it does or not.

I think its more to do with certain types of bodies and their immune systems. Some bodies can handle all sorts of crap in it others can't.

I don't think anyone is saying drug use/partying 5 day benders are good for your body.. but it sure is fun! :D

Actually, I am curious too about the drugs every 2 weeks for a decade..are you serious?.. no breaks whatsoever.. even for a few months?
Seriously i couldn't imagine how that feels!..

the sleep deprivation is probably the worst thing about it. it can cause all sorts of long term damage, from weakened immune system to heart problems. when i came back from ibiza i was so sleep deprived i slept for 2 days! and i got laryngitis and it was 2 weeks before i got rid of it. also the smoke and the loud noise is pretty bad for you too.

on the upside, at least if youre out dancing you are being active and getting excersise. also if you are sociable and spend a lot of time doing things you enjoy its supposed to add years on to your life.

i know what I'm doing at th moment cant be good for me (at least 3 nights a week for the past 2 years) :?

However, I really do love it  8) :P

To put a positive spin on things, anything that makes you feel great can only be good for you!
Positive energy is so powerful it can cure cancer, and anybody who is lucky enough to do what they love on a regular basis will testify that they have much more vitality when they do so.
Yes, I imagine sleep deprivation etc can take its toll, but enjoying yourself can only be good for the immune system. ;)

Agreed. I'm under what I'm sure most people I know would call an extreme amount of pressure, most of the time. If I didn't the release valve of my excesses (and football) I think my day to day life and work would have a detrimental effect on my health.

(Note: Absolutely no proven science was used in the forming of this opinion  )

It's the only exercise I get.
Ditto.

Oh wait... there are my daily typing, mouse movement, beer lifting and remote control usage exercises... but those work only a small percentage of one's muscle groups.

When I was going out to Hardcore raves every weekend when I was 16/17  I had a wicked body! All toned and lithe from dancing and jumping around like a mad woman all weekend lol. I must have been quite fit health-wise too because I was never tired and had LOADS of energy, even mid-week. I seriously did have such a good time, but thinking back now there's probably about a 2 year gap in my life where I can't really remember anything 8O  I've cut down a lot now, and although the lithe body has gone, I can still remember most of my weekends. :D

I try not to go out every weekend so that my body clock can catch up with sleep and stuff and i dont over do it when i do go out, i always know that theres the line not to be crossed and im glad for it.

Last time i over done it i was off work for about 3 days after and i never want to feel like that again either.

You see, this is where I go wrong. I see the line and jump right over it (and if I don't jump, I'm pushed)

I bet you dont even look back either do you, or maybe theres times your pushed and your reaching out trying to grab it

Im just too sensible some times , i guess some one has to be :D

  No, I don't normally look back. Well not til 24 hours later when I'm begging to be taken to rehab or preferably put down.

Sensible is good! ;)

Ditto - I just snort it..... 8O

Seriously, the only ill effects I have is and always will be is sleep deprivation, but to counteract that, I basically go to bed as early as I can through the week Sun - Thu and stay up late Fri and Sat (or dont go to bed if I plan a Monday off). I eat healthily, dont drink through the week, take vitamins and exercise.

The only time I really dont suffer is in Ibiza, but for obvious reasons, its sunny, hot and you have none of the day to day grind that is the norm back home, therefore I chill and relax through the day.... 8) 8) 8)
