Weekend rundowns

Today is my Spotlight anniversary of three years...don't ask me how I worked that one out though. 8O

Friday - Went to Walthamstow to spend time with grown up friends.

Saturday - Torture Garden's birthday bash @ SE1. Easily my fave night since getting back from my travels. 3000 freaks all running riot around London bridge (including myself who was dolled up in gimp gear to the tune of £600 with mistress in tow!) Each arena was heavily themed with Burlesque styleeey cabaret, sick twisted performances and strange play rooms (which were hysterical). Sounds bizarre but this really is the friendliest club environment I've ever had the pleasure of being in.
Well worth the shot if you're feeling brave enough and I can guarantee you'll be hooked for life.
Ended up hooking up with an old (& very trashy) friend of mine who took me to a bizarre squat party named 'stunners'. This place opitimises everything I love about East London. It was a warehouse hidden in the middle of a studio complex and hosted by a mad tranny who kept wai'ing at everyone. The crowd was a mix of gender bending freaks - lots of androgynous arty farty punk trash types walking around with faces full of metal, stiletto heels, choppy afro's and trashy DIY wardrobes - some were even strutting around in the nude?!? (allegedly Bjork was there the other week). I met so many characters from the mad Japanese tranny on the coat check to the old man on the decks playing eclectic cheese and talking shite through a muffled microphone. Also met a gorgeous man...lovely but certainly not the boy next door type you'd want to introduce to your parents. :P

Afterwards, went to a house party in Bethnal Green with some crazy Italians and Spaniards - all really accomodating but at that hour of the night it's hard listening to people waffle sh!t in Catalan/Italian/Spanish.
Feeling VERY vacant today and not sure I ever want to go to a 'normal' club ever again. Have decided to make Stunners my second home...can't wait to move to Bethnal Green!

All in all, another bizarre weekend - & quite possibly the last blow out before homelands.

Sympathy please.

   No sympathy from me ;)

Well my weekend plans had to change somewhat cos I had an interview on Thursday for this fab job and apparently they really liked me and wanted to see me again asap for final stage which was presentation. Anyway it was arranged for Monday which meant that for once in my life I did the sensible thing and turned down a Saturday night with Jon Carter 8O

Friday - went to Turnmills so Tom could get an Oakie fix. It was meant to be a quiet-ish one cos Tom was working the next day, as soon as we met up with Jamie and Alex realised that quiet wasn't going to happen  In the monkey man's defence I thought his set was blinding, proper trance from the Oakie school of old :D Good to see Ferd again and his saviour friend with the poppers  Despite Jamie's best intentions to kidnap me I did sensible again and went home, a rare occurrence 8O  Well that was the biggest mistake I made, I may as well have crawled home Saturday night, I desperately needed to sleep so I could get on with my presentation, I now know why I never sleep after clubbing, I felt so wrong all day Saturday  Spent most of the day laid in bed with my 9 dogs reading magazines. Tom got home from work absolutely knackered so we spent Saturday night on the sofa under the duvet watching the Chelsea game and celebrations that he'd taped earlier.

Sunday - wrote presentation for interview, went out for lunch, watched football and did some Ibiza fashion shows for Tom

All in all a pretty civilised wkend, let's just hope I get this job and it was worth sacrificing Carter for

Glad you had a good un Rob (*edit*and all) - mine was much less entertaining to anyone but the current and I, but satisfying all the same.

Fri - quiet local beers

Sat - drove to Brighton, booked into the Metropole, did some shopping, nice swim and steam at the hotel before going for a nice meal.

Sun - Woke early, 20mins swimming and a lovely breakfast before a stroll down to the pier. Yay for log flumes! Oh, and the current insisted on going on the world's crappest ghost train (again!) just because it's so crap but it is partially outside and I get hideously embarassed by being seen on it

Then came back to London for local beers with a friend over from Ireland.

:D :D :D I feel fresh and pure and my table definately doesn't look like Robders this morning!

Weekend was spent decorating/gym/quiet drinks/decorating and i ordered my new carpet

* For any 'Tractor Boys' fans on the board, the Ipswich team, who were staying there also, didn't do anything of note on the eve of the big game versus Brighton. Various older blokes in club kit (trackies and polo shirts), presumably coaching staff, physios etc, did drink solidly in the hotel bar all evening though.

We left at the same time as them on Sunday - there were two (count 'em  ) autograph hunters at the hotel doors!

Ooooh I see! In that case, yes, about time too  How did the convent react to the news you were leaving? ;)

Friday meet the girlies for dinner and lots of drinks and chats
Saturday: Beach for a couple of hours, lots of home stuff and an early night
Sunday: went to my friend's for a bbq, arrived on time to watch the F1, but how boring is to watch cars making 66 tours to the same circuit 8O so we took advantage of the huge terrace. Had a lovely meal and stayed there and watched the football. Barça won and next weekend we'll be Champions again :D

friday-got drunk in dodgy pubs
saturday-watched my second team orient beat mansfield 2-1
sunday-footy training

plus spurs lost so...pretty shit w/e really

Robder wins the best weekend award of the posts so far. Sounds like a hedonistic blast you had there!

I'm actually in the middle of a 4-day weekend, so this might be premature, but nevertheless:

Friday - went to a somewhat subdued birthday party after work before heading home to change and then out to club Fabrique to see Oliver Klein and Brian Cheetham. Local Dj CauseLove got the party started right. Met up with random people all night long and danced like crazy. Bailed out just after 6:00.

Saturday - after some fitful sleep, went to the sports bar to watch Chelsea v. Charlton. Go Makalele! Watched the awards ceremony and the Tottenham-Middlesbro game while my very inebriated wife played Black Jack and then got us kicked out of the place. Took her home and met up with friends for drinks later on. Quiet night.

Sunday - slept all day long. Went to Studio 11 to see Rui Da Silva play. The local opening DJ, Koreets, was great. Da Silva sucked eggs. Took the wife home and went over to Fabrique for a couple of hours and danced like a fool. Home at 6ish

Today - avoiding going out because half the city center is closed off for the big Victory Day celebration. Something like 30 world leaders are in town, including our George W. I should go picket outside the hotel or something!

There's nothing going on tonight and I am bored out of my mind... and I've still got all day tomorrow to sit on my butt. :?

I was in London at the weekend and seem to have spent a horrendous amount of money and come down with the 'flu on the plane back.

Thu: Voted in the morning and then flew down to Stanstead. Headed to Camden where our base would be, at my mate's flat. Lovely place with a roof terrace so incredible views of London. Then, as he headed into Soho to prepare for his club night debut, we headed to a Lock 17 in Camden and met up with two mates who've recently moved down. Got rather drunk which made for an interesting trip into London on the tube! Got to Phoenix at about 10.30 for my mate's night, Uncle John. Good turn-out and all very fun (there was a girl handed out cakes from a trolley - all clubs should have this!). Got into a bit of a nick though due to drinking so much earlier.

Fri: Felt surprisingly alright and as our mates had to work in the afternoon, we entertained ourselves by doing some shopping in Oxford Street. Bloody knackering - how can a place be so busy on a Friday early afternoon?! Walked for seemingly miles and parked ourselves, eventually, on one of the boats on the North Bank for a couple of drinks and admired the view (touristy, I know).
My boyfriend had arranged to meet some old school-friends in Clapham so off we went, but actually spent longer on the transport than we did there so all a bit rushed, as we needed to head off reasonably early to get to Shoreditch to meet everyone else and head to see Erol Alkan at Our Disco, Plastic People (we decided against Fabric mainly due to some of the comments on here about it). Great night - tiny venue though (about 180 capacity) hence why we neded to get there early or get locked out. Nice crowd too - the only rude people came from a group of really wasted Eastern European-looking and sounding girls. Erol was on good form, very Optimo rather than his usual stuff (so no Duran Duran!). Went back to a mate's flat for a few drinks (thanks to one of the shops selling me a bottle of wine at 4.30am!) and then managed to get lost in Shoreditch before getting the first tube of the morning back to Camden.

Sat: Woke up early afternoon and headed to Soho to meet a mate for lunch. As often happens, 10 hours later we're still drinking and in a bit of a state. Oh, and in between this, we were joined by a guy called Winston who sat with us, talking at us for about an hour about how white people are wonderful and black people are terrible (he was black) and how great Britain is as they colonised everywhere (!) before begging me to pay for his drink. I was actually about to, but then the barman told me not to, as clearly he does this all the time. He then turned to me and asked "is it because I am black?" We made a lucky escape. Looked round some record stores but couldn't be bothered taking stuff back on the plane, so I just asked about mail order. Got a typical 'you're a girl, therefore you must not know about music' response though.
More drinks and the cheapest, nastiest noodles ever at Chopstix and then we went back to Camden. I was up for doing the treble and going to see Optimo at Gozila, but everyone else was knackered.

Sun: Surprisingly no hangover (probably helped by finding a big bottle of Irn Bru in Camden Tesco and gulping the lot before bed!). As feet were sore, just headed to Camden for the market. Got a couple of records and a grow-kit. Had a few drinks before needing to head to get the plane.

I could definitely live in London, although I'm not sure if my feet could!

Quiet night friday.

Saturday - Turnmills for armand. Good night. Dissapointed and confused with Armand though. Was sopposed to be on from 2 till close. He didn't come on till 2:30, by which stage the dancefloor was rammed and i had had enough of being embowed and pushed by beerboys so a time out was in order. We thought to have a time out till 4 when, we some people will start to leave and we'll still be able to catch two hours of armand, so we did. At 4 we ventured back to the dancefloor only to find that armand was not! playing anymore. Don't know why. No-one knew anything. Was very dissapointed with him. What we did hear of set we weren't impressed with anyway. He plaued two nirvana tracks 8O and the white strips. But the djs before and after him - think Brookes was on before and Caged baby was on afterwards - were very good!

Left turnmills at 6, then headed off to the key for forumla's afterparty - Forumulate. Cracking crowd, and at that time in the morning funky handbaggy house is exactly what you want with some classics, and quality tunes being dropped left right and centre. Duex - Sun rising, and David Guetta - Just a little more love stand out. The queue to get in at 6 am was long, and when we got inside it was rammed, and stayed very busy till late on. Also met up with a certain hed kandi dj that is a member of the board, so that was good.

Crawled out of there at 10ish only to begin my journey on public transport as per normal. I reckon that only clubbers should be allowed out on sunday mornings 'normal' people shouldn't be allowed to travel

Good night was had indeed.

Friday: Sarah came around to ours for a quick drink before meeting up with Sav and then onto Hed Kandi's 2nd b'day at Bambu/Hidden. Great to catch up with every one. Just a bit wrecked :? , went back to the hotel to continue with the wrecked-ness and got home at 7am. Slept for about 2 hours and got up for a few slices of bacon and some scrambled egg :?, then back to bed until about 7pm.

Sunday: Very civilised, went to Joeys brothers and my moms and then just watched most haunted live till midnight.

Was this Armand van Heldon? Did you not read my weekend report from last week? He was here a week ago Friday and just sucked eggs. He played an hour straight of hard-rock remixes (among others, those same 2 Nirvana songs, White Stripes... and Highway to Hell! 8O). Unfortunately, here he played a good 3 hours... I've never been so disappointed.

Yeah it was armand van heldon - I didn't read your post sorry dude. Wish i had to be honest. He's productions are superb, but as he dj he appears to be shite - Shame.

Exactly... I've liked some of his work for years but that show was crap. I skipped Bob Sinclar (whose DJing I usually enjoy) to see it too.
