Weekend Reports

Bugger all here - day in bed with flu Friday and suffered most of the weekend. Managed to sweat it out a bit in Saturday's 6-0 win at football but still not fully recovered.

(Saturday's win means a win tonight will give us the league, meaning Friday's club dinner will be a wild affair celebrating the double!)

Fri - few vinos and early night cos tired after Thursday's antics.

Sat - watched Chelsea win the Premiership :D :D :D Cue one very happy b/friend and dog, celebratory roses, smoothies and joints all round  Went out and had a few celebratory drinks and then met the Croftys at the station, back to ours to drop their stuff off and then went out for a few celebratory drinks and then dinner at our fave Spanish restaurant.

Sun - drove over East and went to The Big Chill for Sunday lunch and met up with Jon and Bec. Yummy veggie roast, bloody Marys and a few spritzers for medicinal purposes and to warm us up nicely for the main event. Back to ours to get changed and then headed to Elephant & Castle. Met Jon and Bec and Ferd in the pub for pre-drinks. Got into Ministry at 10.30pm and the Bar was already rammed so we waited for the Box to open so we were first ones in ready to assume podium duties  But oh noooooooo, my podium had gone   I really hate dancing with civillians on the main dance floor as well  Miss Nine warmed up, I really enjoyed her (altho the boys said that she proved their theory that girls can't DJ   ) and then Deep Dish came on at 1. I don't think I have ever seen Ministry so busy at this stage  but after a couple of hours we managed to get some room. Deep Dish were superb, probably one of the best I've seen them and at 7.30am in the morning they were still playing to a full main room. Left Ministry kidnapping Jon and Bec and Ferd in the process (Tom actually did have Ferd in a headlock  ) back to ours for Lucozades, wines and cruising. Fab day full of minxiness altho it seemed to go in 5 mins, I don't what the funk we were doing for 12 hours :?

I have a sore back from basically not leaving my studio for 3 days! Out friday night to Meet for Stu's set but we missed him because we were upstairs and Stu had to play downstairs due to the soundsystem blowing up! Sorry about that dude!

Sat : Circo Loco World Tour in Austria together with Isarmaus, Moeller and DanishDynamite

One of the world best party`s on this planet in 2006 :!:

It was brillant, excellent and totally loco

Fri - left Marbella at 1.30....picked up the rest of the party in Cordoba....onto Madrid to meet more peeps....finally after a billion cerveza, wee and chocolate ration stops....arrived in Gijon at 2.30am...straight to bed.

Sat - Spent all day eating cheese and drinking cider as we toured the Picos de Europa and surrounding areas of Gijon....really beautiful place...if a little chilly!:D Yummy dinner washed down with gallons of cider and a night of minxiness in Gijon and hotel!

Sun - Pretty much the same as above whilst nursing my head and catching 40 winks whenever we were in the car! Left Asturias and arrived in Madrid at 11pm...bed!

Mon - Left Madrid....stopped at the infamous Casa Pepé on-route to Marbella....munched 3 bocadillos and stocked up on Spanish goodies....Viva España!!!! Arrived in Cordoba at 5pm to a shocking 35 degrees!!!!!8O Back to Marbella and puppy poo!!!

Friday: Was my housemates birthday so we had a bunch of people back at ours for drinking and dancing in the living room. Also had a friend up from london to stay for the weekend which was lovely.

Saturday: Woke up and went and got a picnic to take to South Parks where there was a big free anti-nuclear festival - hilariously awful bands on the main stage and a funfair - broke my brain on the wall of death 8O  and won a deformed nemo from one of those fishing stalls  - was lovely sitting in the sun though with beers. Summer is nearly here now which makes me happy, oxford is the best place in the summer 8) . Got a few DVDs in the evening because we were too tired to go to another rock type event at one of the colleges.

Sunday: Caught the bus to london at midday and headed to the east end to meet a friend for drinks, then onto 1001 for a bit of a dance and more drinks, followed by a dirty curry on brick lane, then onto circo loco which was fab. Not as busy or as 'loco' as NYD but good nonetheless, spent a decent amount of time in the AKA bar - John Tejada delivered a lovely set in there. Main room was a bit more boring than last time, quite proggy really. Left there close to closing time and headed to 54 for some minimal afterhours - it was ok but not amazing, got bored at about 10 and headed to 1001 to relax and wait for public life to open for kubicle, which was excellent as usual - lovely minimal techno which suits that room really well, had much fun there until we suddenly realised we were about to die and needed to head back to Oxford.

Feel wrong wrong wrong today, thank god there's only 4 days until the weekend :?

Thursday - Out for (many) drinks with a bunch of journalists and friends. Lots of good conversation and home at the sensible hour of 12:30

Friday - Came home after work for a bit of R&R before the missus and I went to Fabrique for the fabulous Ms Barbara Tucker :D :D Third time seeing her and it's always fun but her set was too short as usual. Irina personally promised her we'd attend In Bed with Space so I guess that's one or two mornings planned for our trip  Resident DJs closed out the night in style. Skipped afterhours because of a big plans on Saturday to...

Saturday - ...spend 6 hours in SportLand watching various football games (but only one that matters ). Woke up 15 minutes before the Chelsea v. Man U game (even with the 3 hour time difference!) so I got there just in time to watch the replays of Gallas' goal on 5 mins. Cue many many celebratory drinks :D :D :D. Go Blues!

Afterwards it was Pete Tong at club First. Solid set from the radio man... perhaps a bit too commercial but at least he digs up some unique remixes. Then to Mix at 6 for a few hours of afterhours and a morning techno fix.

Sunday - Evening dinner and drinks with a friend. Dropped him off at the hotel at 2 and decided it was too early to turn in, so popped over to Propaganda for their weekly gay night. I was expecting a more mixed crowd (only been once before, also before a bank holiday) but the place was packed with boys  Highlights have to be 1) translating between a Spanish guy and his Chechen friend in the wc and 2) the poor boy who spent 20 minutes quietly hovering around me trying to pick me up  Great music by expat DJ Tony Key. Saw one old acquaintence who I didn't know played for the other team

Monday - Relaxed day around the house. Did some grocery shopping. Made a great shrimp dinner.

Friday: Meet my two best friends at 52, as a trainning for next weekend we met at 8,00 8O  so at 10 when Pep arrived to have dinner with us we were quite drunk and silly  We managed to leave the bar by 2 and went to La Paloma for a last drink but we ended leaving at 5
Saturday: We went to the beach for the first time this season :D Just a couple of hours cos it was too windy but it was fantastic. Got back home quite late and Pep cooked me a delicious lunch, while he was in the kitchen I knew about Chelsea, can anyone tell me a what hour do brits play football? 8O I spent the evening at my friend's and we watched footy while Pep was in the stadium
Sunday: I was a very good girlfriend and went to see Pep playing basketball, then went out for rural drinks with all his basketball team
Saturday: drove back home and spent the day doing London lists :D

The single worst thing I dislike about gay do's is that I always get that tiny fear into my head that I the Holy Grail of ultimate fears materialises, and I bump into soemone I work with (or just generally "half" know).

 On a Saturday most games kick off at 3 but there is normally one that has a lunchtime kick-off (12.30pm) and one with an evening kick-off (5.15pm). Chelsea were playing Man U at the lunchtime kick-off, hence me knowing the score at 2.30pm

Ya.... good point... perhaps he now thinks I'm gay  (though he knows my wife...). Doesn't matter, really, though, does it?

I hadn't been to a proper gay night (unless you count La Troya) in years but the music was banging and great fun atmosphere... people just having a good time.

Spent the day on Saturday shopping for clothes for the weekend then we eventually set off for Oxford at 8pm, much later than planned arriving at the hotel just after 10pm which is a good journey time.

The hotel was lovely, set in a little village, really the perfect setting for a (non-religious) wedding and contributed to it being such a fantastic day, along with fantastic people, great food, speeches and far too much pimms

The wedding was of a lovely couple, old friends who met six years ago at the Mayday Ball in Oxford literally bumping into each other to the track Time to Burn by Sandstorm so after they'd had their first dance (Crazy, Knarls Barkley) they wanted to dance their first ever dance so everyone joined them on the floor for Time to Burn  Best wedding moment ever!!!

Despite best intentions nobody made it to Magdalen Bridge as the few of us left by that time of the morning were in no fit state (after reopening the reception room, which didnt get locked) and turning back on the dj's equipment and having another little party   After a scary 150m drive back yesterday on 2 hours sleep looked at photos had take away and died until this morning.

They often do the 12.30pm kick-off for local derbies so all the fans don't get drunk and start rucking in the streets

On Sunday there is normally a main game on Sky at 4pm and sometimes lunchtime and 2pm kick-offs.

In the week any games normally kick off at 8pm.

No, I missed it, unfortunately. I am happy for CSKA though... losing in the semifinals in each of the past 3 years. I think it was their turn to win this year.

On the CSKA website, I saw posts from Israeli supporters of other teams who were soooo happy to see Maccabi get beaten.

I've never seen such a bad referees in such a important game  even in the final it was scandalous.
On the CSKA - Barça game, CSKA got 55 1point shots while Barça only got 17

Sylvia

They are not allowed to show televised games at 3.00 on a saturday when most games kick off, to prevent attendence at games dropping, so the 2 games shown on tv have to be before and after the 3.00 games ;)
