Hello party people! Some might remember a post I did about 3 weeks ago about my fancy new setup whereby I hooked my computer into my stereo (not rocket science, I know). On that day, I began the process of ripping every CD I own into MP3s, both for use to play loud and, secondarily but no less importantly, for use on the old iPod.
After 3 weeks of spending every free moment at home on evenings and weekends shoving discs into 2 computers simultaneously, and dragging 30 CDs with me to work each day to make good use of my company computer's CD-ROM drive during the daylight hours, the task is COMPLETE!
The stats:
1 iPod mini (used as a hard drive to shuttle files home from work)
2 tired eyes
3 computers
3 missing discs from double albums
3 albums missing completely
12 albums with a song or two that wouldn't rip. Tracking down those missing tunes with the aid of Soulseek
21 days
62 megabytes
160 kbps (I'd have a higher-quality setting, but I'm half deaf anyway and can't tell the difference, plus it saved space)
841 titles
954 discs (damn those double albums! and did the Cure really need a 4-disc B-sides set?)
1 happy camper
I celebrated by going out and picking up 10 new albums today (and yes, I've already ripped them) and ordering 6 more on Amazon 8)
Sorry.. I had to share with someone, and since you're all music lovin' folks I thought you'd understand.
