UK passport renewal times?

stupod me forgot that my passport ran out last month, so canto book (safely!) until therenewal gets done.. the post ofice peeops (v helpful check and send service, £7 recommended to save hassle with 'too big' photos etc..)

any else recently applied for renewal/new passport, and got it back? just looking for likely timescale.. staf reckon 2-3 weeks, though its now getting nearer summer i fear it may take longer.. ;-(

*** UPDATE 5/June- new one has just arrived, so about 2.5 weeks.

I had mine within a week (about 1 and a half weeks ago), just payed the £7 for the check and send service.
Im now worried about my EHIC!

the set fee is £51 for renewal (after after it has run out! just 2 photos needed, if your appearance hasnt changed much..)

I paid the £7 OPTIONAL check and send, just for peace of mind- i feel it was worth it, as the clerk picked out a few things that would have otherwise meant my app would have rejected..

- photos too big wrong boxes ticked etc...:spank:
 
if you need it desperately, they offer a guaranteed 1 week service for £71, or a same day service for £91, but you have to go to the passport office and get it, thakes about 3-4 hours!
 
Hey guys,

While we're on the topic, we fly off to Ibiza two weeks today, and one of my mates has lost his passport.

Is that same day service thing throughout the UK?! If so that's great if he can go pick one up this coming week :D . If not...any volounteers for a search party? :lol:
 
I got my passport same day but had to go to Peterbrough to get it. There are not alot of Passport offfice's think there is also one in liverpool and one some where down south. But be prepard to sit board for a few hours while it's sorted.
 
On a similar vein - one of my party going out soon has a passport that expires in July
Its completely valid for the duration of the journey

I'm assuming that there is no minimum vaildity period for Uk travel to Ibiza.

any help?
