my brother and I 24 and 21 are going to Ibiza this summer, planning on staying in playa d'en bossa area. Did alittle research and found a couple hotels:
Jet Apartments, Fiesta club playa d'en bossa, es vive. can anyone give us the inside scoop in what these places are like?

we are looking to be right on the beach close to the clubs decent rooms, air conditioning, but most important a hotel full of young people that want to party.

if anyone has done cancun something like the Oasis would be perfect. i haven't heard about any places like cancun that give you bracelet that gives you free drinks all day/night at your hotel, but if there is such a place in ibiza let me know.

thanks
Jon

Jon:

Out of the ones that you mentioned, I would select Es Vive. It is very much catered to "clubbers". It is not right on the beach like Oasis (Jet is on the waterfront), but it is within walking distance. It is also much better than Jet. However, I am not sure if the rooms have ACs. By the way, as far as quality is concerned, none of these places match up to Oasis. But then again, you are not travelling 5K-7K miles to stay in a hotel.

Forget about finding the vibe of Cancun in Ibiza. It is totally different. Cancun, while a beautiful place throughout the year, has a one-track crowd. The party scene is also totally different. Cancun (and places like Havasu, Daytona et al) during spring break is like going to Montana and spending time with a herd of buffalo during the rutting season. A lot of the clubbers in Ibiza are there for the music. The crowd is comparatively quite matured (especially in Playa D'en Bossa) than what you would find at the spring break destinations. This does not mean that they do not party hard, it is just very different than what we have seen during our spring break vacations. Another thing is that Cancun is dirt cheap when it comes to spending money at clubs compared to Ibiza.

If you're looking for on the beach the hotels you've already researched should be fine....
As far as Cancun is concerned you will find nothing close to the size of Oasis Grand in Ibiza.....the hotels in Europe are far different and true to what LagunaBeach said, the vibe and atmosphere are much different than a typical spring break destination......
I have been to both places, Ibiza by far being my favorite, and if you are thinking of a WildOn special when you think of Ibiza...I can guarantee you people are not interested in getting totally pissed and having wet t-shirt contests.........
Regardless though, Playa D'en Bossa is great if you want to be near the beach and near Ibiza Town also.......
Have fun with your planning!!!!!!
:D

Im sorry but I HAVE TO SAY THIS: shows like wildon seriously have skewed ppls perception of ibiza. It makes it seem to be this wild college party/drink/sex fest, in some cases YES...this does happen, if u go and try to make it happen by gettin filthy ass drunk and tryin to shag anyfin that moves, sure sooner or later ur gonna find SOMEONE willin to sleep wif u. But for most of the ppl i've talked on the island, theyre there for the vibe man, its the whole atmosphere they're there for...NOT to spring break it up. I mean the whole vibe on that island is TOTALLY different than a vibe u get on a spring break man, i hate to break it to ya. Thats NOT to say that ppl dont get drunk and ppl dont hook up...but its just that it happens DIFFERENTLY on the island than in a place like cancun. Most of the ppl come to hear superstar dj's spin, dance and to meet kool ppl from different backgrounds and countries. Its VERY hard to describe until u touch down on the island...u feel it RIGHT when u step off the plane and u get a whiff of the balearic air...its like a natural high.

Sorry to blab on about this but i just dont want u to be dissapointed when u touch down and realize that its NOTHING like cancun...u WONT find girls runnin around screamin shovin their tits in ur face, nor will u find guys runnin around doin body shots of tequila on girl after girl. However, u could make a bloody fool out of me by doing ALL of the above mentioned things in ibiza and sending me pics to prove it ;) heh

thanks for the advice, thats the type of information thats tough to get off webistes. its sounds like its going to be a good time.

Exactly :!: Nadia hit the nail right on its head. If you are into the music and the vibe you will definitely have a blast. If not, then I do not think it is really worth forking out the $$$. Yes, the island has some great sights to offer. However, it is my personal opinion that if I take the music and vibe factor out then I would not be going to Ibiza. I'd rather spend the $$$ going to Barcelona or Rome, etc.

If you think about it, the concept is very similar to going hunting. If you consider the amount of money on a per pound of meat basis, then hunting is a very expensive expedition. However, what makes it worth the money for me is the whole experience of intense preparation, surveying, spotting, stalking and then going for the kill, and all the excitement associated with it. If I take these factors out then there is no point in going hunting. ;)

killing poor defenceless animals is not sport or recreation but pathetic bloodlust and you would be thrashed to a pulp in England if you admitted to such barbarous acts - what dates are you visiting Europe next? - I will post the info on a few websites so you get a good welcome.

Spoken like a true European. By the way, you gotta kill it before you grill it!

to be perfectly honest I thought I would try winding you up because although I wouldn't personally wish to kill any living thing I accept that as a meat eater, animals(preferably dead) are part of my diet but the animal rights crowd in England are VERY serious and have killed(murdered) those that choose to take life - doesn't make sense to me killing a human for killing an animal but each to their own - glad you kept your cool and didn't bite too hard ;)

Thanks for that Tony. I appreciate your coolness also :) . Although I love activities like hunting and fishing, I fully accept that not all people are alike. I fully agree with you that to each his own. I respect everyone's opinion even if they are totally different from mine as long as I am not forced to follow their opinion. ;)

By the way, while I am for hunting, I am against trophy hunting (non-edibles). I would never hunt anything that I do not plan to eat. I also firmly believe that hunting has to be regulated (to avoid over-population or vice versa of certain animals).

Sorry JD for going off the main topic. Have fun planning and enjoying your trip.

Have a good weekend,

i work in ibiza in the summer, and i can guarantee you that if you want the alcohol induced madness and the classic get so pissed up you don't know your name and shag some random bird, then its all very much there for you. but those types of activites are only to be found with companies such as '18-30', 'twenties', & 'heatwave'. they organise it all and have a set program for the duration of your trip, including booze cruises, bar crawls, club nights and vast numbers of drinking competitions.

this isn't really my bag, i'm very much into the music side, but i can see how people might like it. one thing you have to remember is that not everyone is there to get trashed and pull, and may not appreciate your drunken exploits.

Hey there!
Haven't been to Cancun (and dont' really want to), I can totally agree with Nadia and LagunaBeachCa that people that go to Ibiza are much more musically educated. Not to say that there aren't some people who just wanna get pissed drunk and pick up anything that moves, but you would not get that vibe that easily unless you're there for a long long time and you're looking for those kind of people intentionally. The general vibe you get is that majority goes there for the dj's, the music, sunsets, beaches, atmosphere in general you know?
Having been there in ealy July last year, I can definitely say that compared to a whole bunch of other places I've been to in my life, when you enter a club in Ibiza, and you see people going crazy on the dancefloor with their hands up in the air and singing along - you know these people actually know who the hell is up there behind the decks, you know? They KNOW the djs, they go there FOR the djs and the awesome heavenly vibe in clubs, especially Amnesia. You see people recongnizing every tune a dj will spin and they literally chant to the song! I cannot and will NEVER forget the time we went to see Paul van Dyk and Tiesto on July 3 at Amnesia and when "As the rush comes" came on, people started yelling and screaming and one by one you'd see people's mouths moving and singing and soon you'd hear the whole crowd chanting...it was a beautiful moment that is truly one of a kind and quite impossible to describe. You won't see it everywhere, you definitely wont see it in Canada as people are not into that kind of scene compared to Europe and especially Ibiza, the atmosphere in Ibiza clubs is truly one of a kind.....
Sorry for going on and on but I'm truly touched by the island and since last summer I'm still in heaven I think. The night with Pvd and Tiesto at Amnesia is so fresh in my mind that I'm wondering if I'll ever forget that.
THANK GOD FOR IBIZA, that's all I can say folks.

Hoping to go there again this summer!

I can totally agree with you trancepunch!!!!!!
Last night we went to go see Eric Morillo at the Guvernment because he is one of my favourite DJ's and the queues were huge!!!! When the bouncer was coming around to sort out the mess of a line up some guy behind me said "what's the hold up?" and the bouncer said, "come on, Eric Morillo is here tonight...it's gonna be packed!" and do you believe the guy said next, "who's Eric Morillo?"
I mean....this giant RAP VIDEO that we live in has got to stop!!!!!
There were so many people there last night complaining about the amount of people and the pushing and all that and they had no clue that an amazing DJ was spinning!!!!!! That's what I love about Ibiza.....everyone (well, pretty much) is going for the same thing....to hear amazing music with amazing DJ's pounding them out!!!!!!

should we have a reality check here.
everyone who comes to ibiza does not come to listen to dj's. a small minority do. there are some 4 million tourists who come to ibiza and the VAST majority have never even heard of your favourite dj's. they come because the island has just what they want - the most popular music on this island is a standard cabaret schmaltz, pumped out in hundreds of bars, and hotels from april to october. a small minority come to pay exhorbitant entrance fees, inflated drinks prices, in a short clubbing season that lasts 10 to 12 weeks.

so tell me - who is erick morillo?

Yeah the scene in canada i would have to say is CRAP!!! Like locally, theyre trying to shut down so called after hrs "rave" clubs...CAN U BELIEVE THAT??? They cite that raves r causing too many deaths cuz stupid gringos go and drop 25 pills. Like its stupid how the acts of a few can ruin it all for the many. They wanna change the times the these clubs open and close...instead of being open from 3am -8am theyre gonna change it to 12am-3am...WEAK!!!! Whatever...its just dumb, although i have to say, etown has been getting better and better dj's coming for more gigs recently so its not all bad. Within these last 5 months or so we've had: sasha, roger sanchez, erick morillo, john julius knight, david morales, judge jules (well he was delayed), and dj sneak and kaskade r set to come in a cpl weeks. So i guess u could say the scene is improving in some ways. Its WAAAYYY better out east. Like u have clubs that actually have dj's spinnin house and have a good vibe in them. Here, if u wanna go to a good club...ie; a club that has ppl IN IT, the dj DOESNT spin...he just plays his shitty top 40 dj set and thats it. But i hear montreal is OFF DA HOOK!!! Stereo is one of the top clubs in north america and its a fav of many dj's. Anyways, what was the original thread about??? hahahahhahaha

miCheaL

p.s. how was morillo? He's my fav dj...drops a bunch of elektroFUNK...i DIG

I don't know about people who go to Ibiza being musically educated..........most of the people i met in the clubs had no idea who the various DJ's were. It's essentially mostly people who love having a good time.

Fiesta hotels are good value JD.......i stayed at the Fiesta hotel playa d'en bossa........good, clean accommodation right on the beach. it didn't have air-con, but to be honest, it doesn't get that hot and there is always a good sea breeze. The rooms have ceiling fans and they are adequate in my experience.

The Hotel is opposite Space, which is one of the better clubs and has a great restaurant with a good buffet.

it's full of young clubbers, but to be honest, you don't spend much time in your hotel.......all the action is outside the hotels.

By the way, Stephen would you by any chance know (or can find out) what percentage of the approximately 4 million souls that visit IBZ each year, visit between June and September?

Thanks,

LagunaBeachCA
