Tipping

Do you tip the housekeeping? What should I give them? I've never really thought about it. I think I did when we went to London in May 2017. I just read something about staying in hotels, and it mentioned that the staff are underpaid, so you might consider a tip. I'm really really unfamiliar with it, but I can adapt. How much?

I usually do, yes. It depends on the hotel and service but if I'm staying longer than one night, I usually tip around 2-3 Euro per night and leave it on the table in the room or on a pillow. So for one week, I'd leave around 15-20e, typically.

I just leave left over change on the side once checking out. Probabley just enough to buy a sandwich after a week in Ibiza

Since the infancy of this thread, I have actually adopted a simple rule: Tip $1 greater than 10%. It's just easier.

Since I usually leave a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door for the entire duration of a hotel stay, the answer would typically be "no"
