THE ULTIMATE CLUBBERS' GUIDE IBIZA UNLEASHED

Mickey Mcmonagle

OFF to Devil's Island this summer? You'll need to know what's going down so you can plan your partying. But don't make the age-old Ibiza virgin mistake of going hell for leather the first couple of nights and missing the best parties later in the week. MICKEY McMONAGLE runs down the best of the big bashes for every night of the week. Of course it's pretty much impossible to make it to all of them unless you have an unlimited budget and the constitution of a tank. And a couple of weeks off work to recover!

Despite a couple of big name absences notably Godskitchen and Gatecrasher there's plenty on offer. There's a couple of pre-club bars you must check out most of these are good any night but look out for posters advertising pre-parties. You can usually pick up discounted tickets or even free passes at these warm-ups.

Most clubs launch over the next couple of weeks and there are a few big opening parties the week beginning Saturday, June 19. So get yourself booked up, take your pick from the nights Mickey recommended and get ready for the best week of your life.

Saturday...

CHANCES are Saturday's your first day on the island so soak up some sun and get into the Balearic spirit. Ibiza town is the place to be get down to the port area and try Darren Emerson's new bar K-ube. Base bar is where you'll find the island's coolest celebs and DJs. Then Hed Kandi at El Divino just take the water bus from the port. Matt Collins and Paul Wilkins provide the funky house and check out their regular pool parties at Es Vive hotel in Playa D'En Bossa. Def Mix have their Island Of Desire night at Pacha with David Morales and Frankie Knuckles. Or there's the Urban Flavas party at Eden in San An with Steve Stutherland.

Sunday...

IT'S just got to be the all-day We Love Sundays at Space in Playa D'En Bossa. This is the definitive Ibiza experience, having it on the outdoor terrace while low-flying planes scream overhead. Your best bet is to get in early to pick up your wristband, then nip over to Bora Bora for the afternoon. Drinks are cheaper there and DJ Gee's sets are fantastic. Then dive back along to Space in the evening to hear Steve Lawler, Erick Morillo and cool guests. If that doesn't float your boat you're mad. But there's always Judgment Sunday at Eden. Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, the superb Trophy Twins and guests like Lisa Lashes and Ferry Corsten bring the noise.

Monday...

MONDAY is all about Circo Loco at DC10. This all-day session has been the hottest thing on the island for a good few years now. Then it's worth nipping to Bar M in San Antonio for the Manumission pre-party. Get blagging and enjoy the show there's always something going on here. Then Manumission at Privilege is definitely worth a look it's such a spectacle you have to see it. There's a lot more to Mondays than this, though. Bobby and Steve do their Kinky Malinki thing at El Divino new this summer. Cocoon is at Amnesia with resident Sven Vath and guests like Richi Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and Miss Kittin. The awesome Roger Sanchez storms back to Pacha with the fantastic Release Yourself don't miss this one. And Mr C is back at Underground with his Superfreak bash this year with a couple of hot new female residents, Xochitl and Natalie
(i thought it would be on tuesdays again? previously he said: I’ll be sticking with Tuesdays, as it’s the most difficult night of the week. As you guys know Tuesday is a recovery night on the White Island, as Space throws the mother of all party’s on Sunday as well as there being Zenith at La Diosa. Monday is Circoloco at DC10, then Pin Up, then Cocoon at Amnesia, or Manumission at Privilege and for those with any energy left whatsoever on Tuesday morning find themselves at Space again for the Carry On and then on to Bora Bora. So needless to say everyone is f***ed by Tuesday night... Also on Tuesday night Carl Cox and Darren Emerson do their own events at Space and Pacha, which keeps the tourists away from Superfreak - perfect... No sheep, only shepherds! Which is why I think Superfreak was the best thing on the Island in 2003. Tuesdays at Underground again it shall be for 2004!). I'd recommend one or two of the above. But if you like it cheesy, DJ Sammy has his own night at Es Paradis and Kiss FM present Floorfillers at Eden with DJ Casper and Ultrabeat.

Tuesday...

IF you reckon you're a bit hardcore, stay up through Monday night and go to Carry On Manumission at Space from 8am until late afternoon. Or grab a few hours' sleep and come along later it's worth the effort. But don't burn out too early as Tuesday's traditionally one of the better nights. From July 20 there are eight weekly Carl Cox parties at Space from 8pm-6am. Throughout the summer there are plenty of options, too. Underwater at Pacha is a great shout with Darren Emerson in the main room and Trevor Nelson playing R&B and hip hop next door. Miss Moneypenny's at El Divino is an institution with the most stylish crowd on the island. Great funky tunes, too, from Jim Shaft Ryan and Norman Jay. In San An the one to watch is Garlands at Eden, which is very popular with the workers. And look out for free pool parties at the much-loved Kanya bar.

Wednesday...

ANOTHER big night on the island, Wednesday has plenty for everyone this year. Ministry of Sound have moved to a new venue and night again and can now be found at Eden going for the Brit crowd, I guess. Pick of the bunch is definitely Subliminal Sessions at Pacha. The incredible Erick Morillo is one of the world's finest so don't miss his wicked night. There's the famous Fiesta Del Agua (water party) at Es Paradis it's a real Ibiza experience as the whole dancefloor fills up with water. But don't wear decent clothes the water is manky. Mauro Picotto has his techno-fest Meganite at Privilege this is another one to check out, especially if you like it tough. And Timo Maas presents his new night Four:Twenty at DC10. The German spinner is one of the planet's most talented go see him.

Thursday...

IT'S always been known as Cream night and this year's no different. But the Scouse house lot won't have it all their own way as there's a fair bit of heavyweight competition. Cream is at Amnesia as always with Tiesto and Paul van Dyk returning as main room residents while MYNC Project take care of the terrace. Renaissance one of my favourites is at Pacha. However, it's fortnightly, with Yoshitoshi filling the vacant slots. Renaissance have Sasha as resident, Yoshitoshi go with Deep Dish you can't go wrong with either. At Eden is a contender for most popular night, year after year. Retro is Paul Taylor's classics night that took the island by storm a few years back and still going strong. Es Paradis has Twice As Nice with Steve Sutherland and Matt Jam Lamont. El Divino has Salvacion with two of Ibiza's most talented resident DJs, DJ Gee from Bora Bora and Jon Ulysses from Space.

Friday...

START the day with a bang at Space for Tonic. From 8am, Alex P, Brandon Block and friends get on the lash all day. Then you should chill out ahead of the horrible late-night flight home. But if you're anything like me, you'll take your luggage clubbing with you and miss your flight or board it at the last second. So where to round off your voyage into hedonism? I'd start with Pete Tong broadcasting the Essential Selection live from Mambo the best bar in San An. Then on to Pure Pacha with the Tongster and guests. Dave Pearce has teamed up with Slinky for a Friday night mash-up at Eden one for lovers of big tunes and trancey stuff. And finally Defected at El Divino offers quality house music from new superstar in the making Andy Daniel.

the place is actually owned by the guys of lechería la bomba (at the left of k-ube) who also own the 3 flats above. javier from mambo rented the bar plus the flat on the first floor and according to the owners he is still the one who pays the rent :!:

no idea of why they said Darren Emerson's new bar K-ube!! :?
