got back from ibiza today...
was a bit surreal walking up to bora bora and seeing practically nobody there. and it looks like no more dj's on the terrace at dc10 either. seems there are one or two places that have been affected in the same way all around the island.
i spoke to several people out there, and everyone has a different spin on the story.
the most obvious one involving local residents complaining about noise pollution and the police 'reviewing' licences that places like bora bora have and coming down strong on them. i cant believe that the government would risk losing money by forcing clubbers out of ibiza. all this 'changing the image of the island' stuff doesnt sound right.
its much easier to believe that the superclubs are bullying places like bora bora and dc10 (which many people seem to echo out there at the moment) - all, obviously, related to the drug trade - with the help of bribed police officers.
conspiracy? why not. otherwise, why dont the police raid space? if you spend 10 minutes on the terrace at space, you know what i'm refering to.
regardless of these slight hiccups, i got mashed out of my head.
dc10 remains the greatest place on the face of the planet - the inside of the club has always been a hellmouth of basslines, imo
. space was actually pretty good this past sunday (even without JZ). very electro if my memory serves me correctly. and i think i did Cocoon on the monday night.
next year, its the opening parties and 12 days in september. i just hope nothing 'stupid' happens between now and then.
