doesnt look like we will make it over this year.....

Went to the vets with the pooch last night for more heart medication. We have decided that at 16, with a bad heart and increasingly bad arthritis, Benson is just too old to leave for over a fortnight, I would hate anything to happen to him whilst I was away, and also, I couldnt imagine the guilt of the dog sitter should anything happen to him whilst he was in charge of looking after him, so after lots of talking, we decided, no holidays abroad this year, just a few days away here and there where we can take the dog with us and just make the most of his time....

Anyone else not going to make it over to the White Isle this year - just so I dont feel too bad about not making it..... :?

Awww poor Pups  But think what a happy doggy you will have :D And Ibiza will always be there next year :D

(You probably don't want to know that I've got 3 Ibiza hols booked  ;) )

Aw poor you.

I'm not going either because we are skint from having to save up for the wedding. ( I do get to go to Argentina on honeymoon though, so spose I can't really complain)

That's what I thought - and I would only be worrying constantly the whole time I was there so wouldnt enjoy it as much as I would normally - and God imagine the comedown if something happened to him and I found out when I got home - eeeeeeeeeeek!!!!

Still, it feel really weird knowing that its all going off in a few weeks and I wont be there this year...... just cancelled the tentative villa booking this morning.....

have a great time anyway for your 3 visits!!!!!!!!!

We've made up for missing out last year and booked 3 hols in Ibiza this year too :D

As well as Cyprus and France.

I need it after my recent workload!

Sorry to hear about Benson pups :(

But Babs is right, the island isn't going anywhere. Next time you go, we can celebrate your triumphant return!

Update:......

Went to the vets with the boy at lunchtime for his check up.

The vet changed his tablets 2 weeks ago and started him on a course of injections that wont interfere with his heart tablets but should easy his arthritis...

.... the little bugger is now hyper and full of beans - its like he's the dog he was 6 months ago....

He has another check up in 4 weeks time, and if, and it is a big if, we still feel he is ok to be left we may well be back on the Island this year after all!!!

The vet seems to think he's in fine health as long as his medication continues and she cant think of any reason (other then whether we feel comfortable or not in leaving him for 2 weeks) of why we shouldnt go on holiday this year.

When she sees him next she is going to give him a barrage of tests for everything that could possibly go wrong with him because of his age, but if he passes his test with flying colours......

that are good news:D

I know :D - he walked twice as far as normal yesterday and he didnt have to be carried back to the car (unbelievable how embarrassing it can be to take your dog for a carry     ) I am sure people think he's the most spoilt mutt they have ever seen - he sit with his paws over Phil's shoulders and looks down on everyone as they walk past us......

Good old boy :D

And I'll be around this post cos I don't think I'm going to Ibiza this year, maybe a long weekend in formentera late sept but that looks impossible at the moment

its still to be decided to be honest, but its a glimmer of hope for the boy getting a good few more months of good quality life, and secondly, a possibility of a visit to you know where.......

Even if we still decide not to go - at least I know he's a lot more comfortable than he has been in the past few months......

our dog is injured, he was run over by a car about some weeks ago. He is well but the vet thinks he would en up hobble. Is something very strange because he is about 10 years old and he is free all day in the garden and the adjacent land, we live in the country so he has a lot of place to run and play. He has never gone out of the garden and the land , never! the other day he was sleeping in the dining room in his blanket and suddently he got up and went to the door so my father opened him the door, he never came back, my father called him but he had gone. My sister found him injured in the curb of the road. Don't know what he was after but poor litle thing. He was very upset, now he is getting better but is very upseting to see him without being able to walk.

oh no - how horrible for you to have to find him in pain - Harley, the dog I lost in 2004 got hit by a car right in front of my eyes when she was younger - silly dog saw me, made a dash for me and I could see the car coming - it was almost like in slow motion - luckily the car was travelling very slowly so she was only slightly hit - not really injured but after that she wouldnt go near a moving car and would only walk on the inside and not near the kerb...

Do you think maybe there was a female dog in heat and he has maybe caught her scent or something and gone to find her?

He is a very handsome dog - he looks so regal in those photos.....

I hope he is well soon and that he only has a little limp and can still play in the fields and your garden.....8) 8)

this is what we though that he migth be after a female. My brother just called me and said me that today the vet hasn't been so positive, the other days he said that he was recovering day after day, but today he said that he doesn't seem to advance so well as the last weeks. looks like a stand still.
I seen him, and he looks happy but i am worried about his legs.

Get well soon Benson...
