The Ibiza clubs give in to the latin rhythms

Its regulars wouldn't have believe it five years ago, IB3 television says...

- Amnesia with Vibra
- Eden with LAICI
- Hï with Gangstar
- Privilege with Iamarichbitch
- Swag daily!

Gangster is more urban music, no? But this trend could become bigger next year as I'm sure the booking fees for these Latin DJs and artists are less and the sound is more accessible. I really hope not as I really want Ibiza to remain as a premier scene for underground music, something that has been eroding away with all the European festival and clubbing options and now they have this to contend with

I’d say we have reached peak ‘underground’ anyway.

Most clubs are struggling for more than 2-3 decent nights, so why not try and get a different crowd for those other nights?

it has crossed over into the mainstream but .. over last few years, we've started seeing a few shootings or fights either in or outside latin clubs on the mainland - often Dominicans settling scores

the events are high on testosterone and all the girls are dolled up - you can guess the rest...

Almost all the local youth are blasting this, erm, "sound" on the buses, on the beaches and in the car parks.
Had me wonder, if you're growing up in Ibiza and electronic music is EVERYWHERE from the radio to billboards, it's probably a bit too mainstream to get into as a teenager. You want a scene that your parents don't know anything about.

I cannot lie. It's charmless anti-music pitched at the trash demographic but it is at least what it says on the tin - and probably more honest than some prog/tech no-mark pretending to play 'deep house' to stay relevant

if it continues to grow in popularity at the expense of electronica, then IBZ could well become less drug-fuelled because this is not drug music - so perhaps the authorities will be grateful for that?

however, it also has the potential to unleash all sorts of other social problems - violence, misogyny and the rest (see those articles in my post above) so will be interesting to monitor those crime statistics...
