SIGMA + BUGZY MALONE | IBIZA ROCKS | 27/07/16

One week ago it was announced that Tinie Tempah had to cancel his show at Ibiza Rocks due to recording commitments and that Sigma would play instead...

The first act of the night was Bugzy Malone. The Manchester grime MC has two EPs, Walk With Me (2015) and Facing Time (2016), and featured along Stormzy on Tinie Tempah's "It's Peak". His DJ and MC started jamming before he came on full force with songs like "Watch Your Mouth" or the closing number "Mosh Pit Gang", where he invited a kid from the audience called Brandon to sing with him.

After Patrick Nazemi's sensational set and with the venue comfortably packed with a nice mix of people having a genuinely good time, it was time for the headliner. The duo Sigma brought their full live show back to Ibiza Rocks for the third time (they also did a couple of DJ sets at W.A.R! in the past), their only live date on the island this summer.

Cam and Joe were backed by the troupe that regularly tours with them, the great drummer Paul Jones and on the vocal duties MC Justyce, Daniel Pearce, Zoe Kypri and Majestic (who guested at W.A.R! two weeks ago and DJ'd at Ibiza Rocks Bar afterwards for the official after party), plus the addition of the singer Eyelar Mirzazadeh and the guitarist Oli Austen. Sigma really know how to entertain and that's exactly what they did with a selection of the best known songs from their debut album Life (2015). You can't go wrong with a performance that includes the likes of "Higher", "Glitterball", "Feel It", "How Deep Is Your Love" by Calvin Harris, "Nobody To Love" and "Changing", for example. The cheering fans sang along to every word, including their latest single "Cry" (a collaboration with boy band Take That) which will be part of their second album. Every time they were joined on stage by Majestic on some of the more upbeat songs the mad moshpits started again, especially during "Beyond The Wall", and (like the last time we saw them at Ibiza Rocks) during "Feel It" he got everyone to get down low and then back up again.

Fantastic as usual... I never get tired of seeing this lot!

Mid-season already but there are still appearances from Kaiser Chiefs, Faithless and Wolf Alice, to name only a few, to look forward to...
