Sensational Jounalism or Ibiza Reality?

Did you see the pomposs guy that wrote it. He didn't have a clue about Ibiza :evil:
I couldn't read all of it because it made me so angry :evil:

Why does it make you so angry? I cant comment about the actual validity of some of the facts about crime but the general gist of the story seems correct.

While we all love Ibiza and the time we have there, the drugs that some of us consume have to come from somewhere and as you should know that line of business is a very dark and dangerous one.

Yes he looks into the sinister side of Ibiza life but to me the facts seem mostly true, not withstanding the fact that he seemed to get ripped off by paying EUR 10 a pill. :lol:

It doesnt make for very nice reading but to me it seems the truth hurts.
Hopefully things will not get worse and escalate into a situation where it badly affects those who live on the island (as well as those who like to visit the island on a regular basis....like me).

There´s been one incident on the island. All the rest he reported weren´t here at all.

is complete conjecture. Linking names of known gansters to the story, without any evidence is clear and obvious sensationalism.

Go through the article, mark off the actual facts and then count each unevidenced ´fact´. Subjective suppositions based on the ´understanding´of
unidentified sources mean nothing.

its pure sensationalism cos in this story you can read the same for london, paris, new york, bangkok, madrid, etc, etc, etc.

unbelievable that he somehow managed to drag Leah Betts into it, i think most serious journalists would laugh at that reference.:roll:
 
I question the intergrity based on..... why would the dealers be fighting there must be enough punters to keep them all coated in gold in San Antonio alone!!!

I only shot two people on my visit to Ibiza this year.

And they didn't get nuffin they didnt av comin!

The Hippies were worse :lol: I read something that happened in the late 60's where some soap dodgers had this massive trip which made them dig up the dead to worship 8O Didn't go down very well with the Ibicencos.

First of all, Im not trying to defend this guy or his journalism capabilities. I agree there is sensationalism in the story but thats what all journalists do. Unfortunately for this guy he probably only had one trip out there (unlike most of us) to research this article and probably works on plenty of other articles too related to completely different things.

However, the one fact that is very true is that two (British) tourists got shot in relation to drugs, which I believe is the first shooting of its kind in Ibiza (correct me if Im wrong). Once that starts happening, people in various locations begin to take note and realise there may be a problem that needs to be sorted out. Look what has happened to Aiya Napa.

Links to Leah Betts etc are all crap but as I said in my original message, I cant comment if links to other crimes/criminals are true or not and Im guessing that your comments that they are conjecture is not based on facts either. He quotes Interpol and Soca in the article. Whether these agencies are quoted properly or not I dont know.

I guess the point I was trying to make originally was that whenever we (Ibiza regulars) see articles like this we tend to pass them off and judge them pretty quickly as we supposedly know the island a little better than these journalists. Drugs and trafficking are things which the Ibencan (Sp?) and Spanish authorities seem to have largely overlooked in the past few years.
That will probably remain to be the case if the current shooting was a one off but if there are more incidents, Im sure we can expect some drastic clampdowns and changes ........and I was saying that I hope it was a one off incident and things dont get worse on the island.

Didn't think you were sir.8) Was just making the point that most of his article, besides one shooting and some subsequent arrests, has no eveidenced basis in fact, or where it has the 'facts' stated have no evidential link to Ibiza.
