the funky lounge is open till 5.30am with resident dj gavin craig :!:

oh the memories, the amount of times i had to utter those very words "open every night till 5 30" to all the mashed people on the rocks! great stuff! p.s im not jus a wierdo i did actually pr for savannah an mambo! :D

yeah it does but not till later in the night and on certain nights its busier dependin on whats goin on everywhere else. also dependin on how could the pr team r for the funky lounge this year, prob wont come close to last year you know. ;) they will prob b much better! :lol:

Craig Winch and his family live on the Island, his parents own and run the gorgeous Winch's restaurant at the back of San Antonio bay, Craig's Sister Debbie owns and runs the Libra Beauty Salon towards the end of the San Antonio bay road. Keeping it in the family Craig's fiancé Karen also works at Winch's. Craig is resident dj at Savannahs, the first sunset bar on the strip next to the Café del Mar. You can catch Craig playing his blend of Soulful house at Savannahs from 6pm till 2 am, he also very skilfully plays chill out and cool soulful sounds for the sunset. From 11th June when the Savannahs funky lounge has opened you'll hear him playing the finest funky house. Craig is also one half of dj and production duo the Hermano Brothers who will be launching quite soon and are tipped for big things, watch out for them.

if you've only visited sunset bar Savannah during the day then you probably don't know that they also have a separate after hours spot at the back of the building, the funky lounge. A large bar with funky lighting, sit and chat tables, cushioned chill out seats and of course a dance floor! A week last Friday saw Defected throw a party in the funky lounge with head of the label Simon Dunmore and Percussion player shovell doing the honours. Understandably the place was rammed, myself and Craig Winch, terrace resident, warmed up for Simon he then came on and rocked the place with defected's brand of soul based, funk laden house music, Shovell knows when the tunes inside out, when they break down and him and Simon play together extremely professionally. Simon played on 3 cdjs placing some nice accapellas in the mix.
Myself and Craig took over after Simon's 2 hour set playing back to back again and I'm pleased to say under our guise as the Hermano Brothers we rocked the place until 6am, Great fun! Cheers to the defected crew, who also gave out free exclusive Defected in the House cds. Look out for posters and flyers for another Defected session in the funky lounge soon. Different promoters and djs are there nightly from Midnight until 5.30am.

craig winch is a great dj..... all my mates know him from a gym in sunderland....first time i spoke to him was a couple of weeks ago and he is a very nice lad.... the funky room is a nice little venue but it never really got busy apart from that defected night...shame really
