This looks amazing!

Back since Sunday... already missing the White Island as every year... But already having at the flights to come back in September and for NYE ;-)

So, it is time for my yearly restaurant review. A few restaurants I didn't visit yet, and many others that I still want to try during my next stay.

It is now more and more difficult to find some time to go to new restaurants because there are so many where I want to go every year...
But anyway, I managed to try 6 new :)

Here we go:

Ciao Ciao (PDB):

Still very good, I really like their pizzas, pastas are fresh, gluten free options,...
Service is good, you don't wait that much to receive your meal.
The PR (Christian) is very kind.
If you're looking for an italian in PDB just go there, you won't be disappointed by the quality.
Prices are not expensive at all.

Mumak (PDB):

Still one of our favorite in PDB. They servers a mix of mexican and asian food.
Cocktails are very good, this year I tried their Pornstar Martini, recommended! And also their spicy Mojito :)
Nachos portion to share is really really big! Great starter for small groups...
Food is very good, price is normal. I recommend the Poke Bowl and the Nasi Goreng!
Service is ok, not the best ever, not because they're not kind but more about their waiter skills :)

Sa Trinxa (Salinas):

Should I do another review of Salinas? :) Perfect beach spot, really nice crowd, the best balearic vibes with the sounds of Jon Sa Trinxa, Franco Moiraghi,...
I need my yearly dose of Sa Trinxa!
The menu didn't change that much, same plates but everything is very good... I think I already tried about all the menu, and I never was disappointed.
As every year, I will recommend you to try their Sangria de Cava Rosado, still my favorite!
Same crew working for them since many many many years, this can only be good.
Prices are ok, not too expensive for such a magical spot.

Giri Café (Sant Joan):

Despite the bad experiences that @jimmiz had there, we were in the Sant Joan area and I really wanted to check this restaurant.
And we had an amazing time there. Their garden is wonderful, decoration is great.
Smiling waiters, good service. Some amazing cocktails really well prepared by the barman.
And the food... An amazing salmon tartar! You really have to try it! Hummus was perfect to share, you could feel that it was homemade.
We ordered several different plates and we all loved what we tried.
Prices are not cheap, but it isn't overpriced neither compared to the quality and the location. I will definitely go back there!

Om Sweet Home (Sant Joan):

We only took a quick breakfast there with my sister and my daughter.
Fruit salad was very good, I ordered some toasts with black olives and mozzarella which was also very good!
Service was very good, I will give it a try for a full meal next time.
Prices are quite cheap.

Locals Only (Ibiza Town - Plaza Del Parque):

It was my best new restaurant in my list from last year... so we went back, and it was still very good!
They really try to put the more healthy and local ingredients in all their dishes.
I recommend their homemade bloody mary with fresh tomatoes!
Food is very tasty, good portions.
Note that it was one of the best service I had this year with their French waiter who was really close to the customers!
Price are reasonable, I will go back again next time :)

La Taberna Del Parque (Ibiza Town - Plaza Del Parque):

We went there for some tapas for Lunch.
Everything was very good, but I think we really ordered too many tapas, we couldn't finish everything.
Service was ok, prices are ok too.
If you're at Plaza Del Parque, this is another one where you can go your eyes closed...

S'Escalinata (Dalt Villa):

Located near the citadel of Dalt Vila, I already saw a few pictures of this restaurant and it looked great... so we gave it a go.
Very nice view overlooking Plaza Del Parque and Ibiza Town.
Cocktails were very good, but not the best we tried during our stay.
Tapas were good but not exceptional, and maybe some portions were a bit small compared to their prices.
Service was very friendly. Prices a bit cheaper than Plaza Del Parque.
Note that you have to sit in an nontraditional way, so no chairs, could be sometime difficult to find the right position to sit & eat ;-)

Can Den Parra (Dalt Villa):

4th year in a row there, very local restaurant with great food.
Not very expensive, their Paella is very good!
I took again their big plate with 2 steaks and a big goat cheese in between... + peper sauce and potato gratin... So many calories but so good :)
Again a flao there which was the best I tried?
And as every year, the boss put a bottle of hierbas and didn't stop serving us... he even wanted us to finish the bottle.
Great place, will definitely go back again and again!

Fish Shack (Talamanca):

Last time I went to fish shack was 2 or 3 years ago, so I really wanted to go back this year.
They still have fresh fishes from the day, same traditional plate with potatoes and some vegetables.
My tuna was just perfect, and big portion! Gambas were very good too...
They change a bit their furnitures (no more Coca Cola tables on the rocks :)).
I'm still a fan of this place, and of course a café Caleta at the end of our dinner (offered by the house btw).

Raco Verd (Sant Josep):

My yearly stop there... and still one of our favorite, cheap, great food, great cocktails, great service...
Quite big portions for the tapas... They serve a mix of Spanish and Mexican dishes.
Can't recommend it more than that as in my reviews since many years!

Rasca Lobos (Sant Jordi):

This was my new favorite this year! I was recommended by a local friend to go there... and we thanked him for this!
Such a friendly service! They were so kind with us... best service this year!
Sangria was very good.
Big choices of tapas, and big portions! I tried their fried brie, mini burger, shrimps,...
Everything was very good and you could feel that about everything was homemade.
We liked it so much that we came back on our last day!
Prices are cheap compared to the tapas restaurants in Ibiza town and other crowded areas...
They have a nice little garden.
Can't wait to be back there!

Sa Caleta (Sa Caleta):

As we had a very good experience there last year, we went again twice this year.
Such a nice location with the stunning view with the cliffs and the beach.
Paella was again very good. We tried their Paella which was great. I also tried their grilled sea food (I think it was called Marinada?), I really recommend that one! With 1/2 lobster included...
And so... again cafe Caleta, which is amazing... first they prepare everything in front of you... and then you taste it, perfect combination :)
Price is reasonable, will definitely go again.

Casa Maca (Ibiza, near Can Misses):

After seeing many pictures of this place, I really wanted to give it a try.
First thing: you have a stunning view over the center of Ibiza and Dalt Villa. I just can't imagine seeing the fireworks from there in a few days... should be magical!
This is not a cheap restaurant, so you have the service that you could expect for such a place, very kind, always asking if we had everything we needed,...
Food was amazing! I guess all vegetables are from their farm. Tomatoes were so tasty...
And their croquetas de jamon are probably the best I tried on the island.
This is a place I would recommend for a romantic dinner with your lovely one, but yeah... it is expensive (I think it was around 180€ for 2, 2 starters to share, 2 mains + 2 sides which are not included in the price of your main course, 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine).
But we had a good time, really nice place. There was some live music during our dinner...

See you for my next review ;-) Definitely Ibiza is a great place to eat, whatever your tastes are...

Good to know, they changed almost all the team during the last 2 seasons, maybe they finally find some good professionals...

Great post.

We just had pizzas from Ciao - please give these guys your business, their food is good value and they are apparently not quite as busy as previous seasons.

Aiyanna. Rocked up early for lunch and managed to get a table near the bar for a quick lunch, even though they were fully booked, by smiling nicely and ordering from inside initially.

Really nice lobster with their own tasty sauce and some new potatoes under it & great cocktail (non-alcoholic). 50 notes or thereabouts. Not bad for that at all really considering the incredible location. Nicer food than I've had at Amante - have had sea bass cooked in a little parcel there before and it was lovely too.

hmm, I've walked past lots of times since it was Verde, seems very popular, a bit posey...obviously, how else are you gonna sell?
Similar menu, twice the price....

it's pretty friendly though, the staff in there are super-nice. Didn't look at the other stuff on the menu really. I'd actually just come from El Bigotes where there was no chance of a place for the 2pm and arrived too late for the 12.30, but couldn't help trying anyway. Prices no more than other 'refurb'd' beach clubs and 40 euros for a lobster main isn't excessive in Ibiza. Paid almost twice that for a baked sea bass in Elements years ago !! I never made it into Cova Santa the night before and worked out I'd have spent what that lunch cost me on door entry and a drink, so may as well push the boat out for once on my last day before flying home !

Fair enough, I guess I'm just someone who doesn't appreciate the changes ?

Anyone been to Casa Maca or Jul's?

Currently hesitating between both... Not the same location and food of course, but both are looking nice... It is to extend my Ibiza restaurant knowledge ;-)

Currently more tempted by Casa Maca... :)
Casa maca yes

Quick review.

Destino - San Jose
Bit of a favourite. Nice selection of tapas, the standouts being the lamb tagine and the ceviche. Probably ordered a bit too much but still less than €90 for 2 beers, bottle of sparking water, bottle of red and about 6 dishes

Sa Cova - Ibiza Town
Love love love this place. Only a few tables but really lovely setting and great service. Took on the foi gras and clams to start and Octopus and fillet steak for mains. Couple of beers, couple of bottles of red and coffee and it came to about €150. Would highly recommend!

Balansat- San Miguel
Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Beautiful setting, good service and amazing food. Went for the Bullit, somehow managed a desert and spent 2 hours sleeping it off on the beach after. Food plus 2 bottles of wine and coffee was about €150. A new fave!

Cocode - PDB
Midnight meal as wasn’t hungry after lunch at Balansat. Crappy service, reasonable pizza. Wouldn’t bother again but did a job at the time. 2 beers, salad, pizza, bottle of red was about €55

Sa Caleta - Sa Caleta
Another first got us. Shared 2 salads, calamari a la plancha and the octopus and all were very good. Bottle of Catalunya Rose was perfect and finishes off with the trio of deserts and of course the coffee Caleta came to about €120. Will be back!

Sa Trincha - Salinas
Usually end up at the Jockey Club so was happy to try Sa Trincha again for the first time in over 10 years. Shared a huge house salad (smoked salmon and goats cheese)!and another squid and octopus dish - cooked differently to Sa Caleta. Our friend had the salmon steak and really enjoyed - huge portion. Shared a bottle of wine and sparkling water, 2 coffees and it came to a reasonable €160

Sa Vida - Ibiza Town
Very good service, was advised to share 6 dishes between 3 and it was enough. Really interest selection and enough choice to try again. A bottle of wine, sparkling water and 3 coffee but no idea how much as our friend paid.

Some really good food this and 3 new restaurants tried so very happy!

I included the below in the holiday reviews section. Edited and a bit more info added for here

Rio, San An. Lunch. Food was decent, was had a mixture of salads, toasties with a few glasses of wine and some pints. Was approx. €80 for 4 adults and 3 children. Service was okay, however they gave us the wrong bill (which was for €180). Was sorted out quite quickly and would go back.

La Guay, San An. Good, freshly prepared food at a reasonable price. Again, this was a lunch stop so it was relatively standard fare, toasties/hotdpgs for the kids, salads and bocadillos for the adults. Was approx. €50 for all of us, again with a few pints on there. Service was good and they had a wee kids corner bit inside with some toys to keep them entertained.

Sa Bresca: Ate here during our annual trip to the aquarium/Cala Gracio. Really good fish dishes, not that cheap for a lunch at €20 for the fish of the day, but really tasty and probably worth it overall. They have a list of fish of the day which you pick from – must have been 8 different choices. I had the monkish. Cooked to perfection with some lemon drizzled on it. Excellent location, on the beach. Service excellent, very friendly with some chupitos to finish. Can’t beat it. I think we were about €160 for all of us.

La Dispensa – Dalt Villa. Probably the most expensive meal of the holiday in terms of the price of the dishes, but had been on the wine at the beach all day and can’t remember what the final bill was. Was only me, the wife and boy that ate here, it was definitely over €100. The Mrs is 6 months pregnant so that was with only 2 glasses of wine, no starters and one dessert between us. Food was excellent though and the staff were top notch. I had the ravioli, stuffed with mushroom, ricotta and caramelised pork, the Mrs had vegetable lasagna with spinach. Beautiful setting, great for people watching. Would go back.

Tanit Beach Club – PDB. Had been here before we went to La Dispensa. Food was decent, we got a platter to share and it was good enough. Can't fault the service, was friendly and quick enough. Lay at the beach all day drinking the rose wine, was only €5 a glass and they seemed to get bigger the more I drank them. The one thing that struck me but wasn’t a surprise, the faux VIP people that infest places like this are absolute cretins when they get a drink in them. There was one group of girls with one guy who was funding everything, one of the girls poured a whole bottle of some sort of rose fizz all over her head, the guy proceeded to order another. Attention seeking roasters.

David’s, San An – a regular haunt when we’re over. The pizzas are excellent and the house red wine is as good as a house wine as I’ve has anywhere. The Mrs had a sirloin, not the best cut I've tasted but still good enough. It's reasonably priced and they do a menu del dia for €12.50 (I think). That includes 3 courses and a drink!

Pikes for Sunday Roast. What a fabulous place. Had read Tony Pikes’ book and knew the history and infamy of the place but had never been before. Loved it, the food was great, the Kid’s in Ibiza lady took the children and we got a couple of hours to have a wander round and get a few wine’s in (obviously). Roast was a mixture of lamb and roast beef, the amount of vegetables and meat that was brought to our table was unreal, they seemed to just keep coming! Really enjoyed it. Just one very small gripe, they already add the service charge to your bill, which we only just picked up before handing over the cash (€300). I’ll always leave a tip, a minimum of 10/15%, but I hate it when it’s already added, unless of course it’s a big group, I just find it a bit too presumptuous. Also, they’ll probably lose out, they add 10% - I’d leave more if it wasn’t already on there. Anyway, a small issues that didn’t detract from the day, we loved it and the kids loved it, will definitely be back.

Although the island is expensive, it's a myth that you can't eat out without spending a fortune, there's always something for every budget without having to resort to the old tinned potatoes.

Try Nikki Beach where the competition is who can spray the more expensive bottle of champagne all over each other. I'm guessing it was Prosecco at Tanit, and that Mandy from Chelmsford will be back stacking shelves at Asda on Monday ;)?

The restaurant Can Pepeta on the Sant Joan road re-open tonight.
Run by one of the guy involved in the 6 Senses hotel project.
My wife went there yesterday with a group of girls, they were all very disappointed.
The list of the bad things they said would be too long to write here.
Mega-Super-Overpriced.
Just found out the chef is David Reartes, so it should be gooood... ???
