Reason/cubase - how to get funky sounds?!

I've got a new pc at last!!

I've been messing around with cubase and reason, but all the synths and refills just sound fake or like noises from space films....

I'm basically wanting to make 'funky house'. Any suggestions for vstis / refills that I could use?

Buy Computer Music and Future Music if you want a library of sounds across genres to experiment and learn with. Both come with DVDs full of royalty free samples, VSTis and effects and at £5 and £6 they're a lot cheaper than buying a normal sound library, plus of course you get all the helpful tutorials and advice.

I used to have a Reason tutorial that a friend gave me. However, in moving from place to place, I can't find it. Know any places where I can purchase a replacement????

I was hoping to make most of the sounds without using other samples though... is this possible without having expensive equiptment??
