Paranoid ...

Hey all!

Only 10 days left! Starting to get my usual holiday paranoia though - what's Ibiza like crime-wise? Any black spots for bulglary etc? I'm mainly asking cos my travel insurance isn't the best :? and i dont fancy forking out all my drink/club money because I've had my apartment robbed!

Cheers fellas xx

crime is pretty much the same or less there as anywhere in the western world, I wouldn't spend much time worrying, just be sensible as you would anywhere

you should considering putting your dough
in one of those "security boxes" usually
found in the lobby/reception.

Have a nice trip, dance til' you drop...

You've nothing much to worry about as long as you are a little street wise - don't flash large amounts of cash & steer clear of black Africans, especially the women!

Thanks folks! Yeah we've decided to get safe deposit boxes, but I'll sleep soundly :D well for a coupla hours a night maybe!

Beware! There are 6 well known muggers who operate in Ibiza and they have robbed a lot of tourists this summer. They have been operating for a few years now, but as they grow in confidence, their crimes are becoming more and more obscene. They used to operate at night, but have now started robbing more and more people during the day. One of them is massive and has taken schit loads of cash from tourists. There's a small scruffy one who operates in San An & usually targets the British, but the others will target all nationalities. If you come across them, expect to walk away with little or no cash.

Anyway, if you bump into Privilege, Pacha, Space, Amnesia, El Divino or little Eden... RUN!!

I didn't expect such comments on this forum. Am I the only one to feel disgusted?

You are misunderstanding what is being said here.

Black africans in ibiza carry fake jewlery round selling it in the street, they also sell drugs in the street. The black african women are the same but worse, they always try and get your hand and when they do they tie a piece of string around it then expect you to give them money. they can get nasty with you if you dont give it to them and on some rare occasions ive heard of other people ganging up on people who dont give money

That's a pretty blanket statement there, and it's inaccurate.

Yes, there are Black Africans that sell trinkets/drugs in the street but I've never had one bother me after a simple 'no thanks, man'. They are not there to rob people but to sell things.

I have never seen these aggressive women you refer to in 4 trips over 4 years. The only African women I've seen that weren't tourists were the ones offering hair braiding services. Again, there to make money not to rob you.

I'm a Black American so maybe I'm a little sensitive to your generalization, but on an empirical level I think your assertion is incorrect. Also, keep in mind that there are Black African tourists in Ibiza too.

OH COME ON!!!!.....Take the comments in context....for god's sake!!!!He OBVIOUSLY did not mean ALL black africans, just the peddlers. A couple of times we had some Senegalize guys follow us down the street (does it matter that I did not say Black Africans?) really pushing us to buy drugs.
I know they were Senegalize, I asked....VERY cute too, yummmm, if you don't mind the hard sell... ;)

well i just got back from ibiza and when i was walkin bk from the west end i got bottled by a spanish lad for no reason ! be careful !

just a word of warning from experience - beware of the pro's operating along san an. One of my friends was walking passed one and she slipped an arm around him, asked him if he wanted 'anything', he declined and she walked away... with his wallet.
So beware!!!

but in general i found san an crime-free (in 2 weeks that was the only crime i saw)... dont b paranoid and ENJOY!

its not inaccurate at all. what i said was from what i have seen over the last 5 trips i have had. last year i used the beach infront of iticia allot and spent much time watching the black street sellers and what they did. Maybe because you are black also a simple No thanks was enough for them to leave you. it certainly wasnt the case for me and other people i saw.

I have never seen these aggressive women you refer to in 4 trips over 4 years. The only African women I've seen that weren't tourists were the ones offering hair braiding services. Again, there to make money not to rob you.

The women i refer to were allways just passed iticia about 5 of them. constantly grabbing peoples wrists and not letting go, im sorry if you see this as ok but harrasment like this is not ok with me. I also personally witnessed a woman get agressive when a girl wouldnt give any money two her. the only reason this was split up was cause police were coming down the sea front and all the street sellers ran away.

I'm a Black American so maybe I'm a little sensitive to your generalization, but on an empirical level I think your assertion is incorrect. Also, keep in mind that there are Black African tourists in Ibiza too.

i understand there are black africans on holiday there but i dont think for one minute they would hang round trying to sell jewlery and drugs while they are on holiday do you?????
