Olympics 2012

i would usually be behind it.

but where does the money come from to fund all these olympic stadiums, and upgrades and such?

is it tax? im not sure.

The bendfits and legacy it would bring would far outweigh any costs :D

I don't understand how Madrid and NYC are in with running? Both America and Spain only hosted Olympics not long ago :?

well, if it is tax, i dont see what would benefit the rest of the country if London were to get it.
i can just see London benefiting.

Well Londons far more imprtant and better than other cities so it's all good :D

And that outweight will go straight to real state promoters and builders or however they are called.

It's a good oportunity for a city to get a huge injection of cash and to improve lots of things but the business is real state, as always

even tho we've hosted the games twice, it was more because we stepped in at short notice because of 2 world wars.

Seeing how well the Commonwealth Games went in Mancland, proves we can handle it, and will leave a lasting legacy.

8)

Londons bid will use the more money than Paris or Madrid in "improvements".
so dont see what something like this does for Northern England/Wales/Scotland/N.Ireland, apart from taking their money away.

Where they want to put the olympics in London is in a slummy, run down, bad area...the olympics will regenerate it and improve a lot of peoples lives :D

Yes, that's the theory but they are not going to give a solution to that area, they are going to move the problem somewhere else.

Fck it, they've got the congestion charge, throw them a bone and give them the Olympics to compensate! 8)

It's arguable whether the money could be better spent on Education / health Services, but the Olympics are as much a mark of our country as a cutting edge capable country than anything else.

As long as Seb friggin Coe isn't plastered all over our screens - twat

but would it not do the same for other countries?

im just saying, as an example, that why should Scotlands tax money go to a place hundreds of miles away, and which wont generate any revenue for, apart from London?

what will the Olympics in London do for Scotland?

My fingers are crossed we get this, just out of pure greed, I'm hoping my house price will go up, and my dad will have work (so he says) for all the building work going on!

Come on London :D Woo hoo

Yeah, the paris and madrid bids wouldn't change and improve the cities no where near as much as the london bid will if it wins.

There has been LOADS of regeneration in Northern English cities in the last few years 8O Look at Manchester,Liverpool,Leeds and Sheffield....Billions has been spent in these cities on new buildings, houses, retail, entertainment etc Leeds and Sheff were dirty northern industrial dumps and are now two of the most vibrant cities in the country :D

Englang have crap faccilities and a run down eastend, oh and most of the youth need a kick up the backside and a reason to get involved with sports.

It would be great for England on the whole.
