new employment - medical checks

A mate has just landed a new job but there's a medical and she's worried they might detect 'certain things' in it.
From my experience it should just be the usual stuff like eyesight, blood pressure etc, but does anyone know what deal is? I'm sure it differs from place to place but is there a general rule as to what they check for (or what they're allowed check for) ?

Yeh. Nothing to worry about I reckon. Generally just a urine sample and weight check.

Besides, testing positive don't necessarily mean yer fooked at work does it?
 
If they take urine, they could potentially test it for anything.... I'd stay away from anything for at least 3 days before...
 
When I had my medical they checked my blood pressure, Urine, weight, joints, eye sight, hearing and lung capacity. But then again that was for the Royal Navy so it probably differs alot with what kind of job you do!
 
in my old job we had random drugs tests
in my new job i try to ensure that i am always stoned when "at work"
it helps me get into the zone

Alcohol 12 - 24 hours

Amphetamine 2 - 6 days

Anabolic Steroids 2 - 4 weeks

Benzodiazepines 7 - 10 days

Cannabis 2 - 7 days but up to 30 days for regular users

Cocaine / Crack 12 hours - 4 days

Diazepam 1 - 2 days

Ecstasy 2 - 4 days

GHB 12 - 24 hours

Heroin 1 - 2 days

Ketamine 5 - 7 days

LSD 2 - 3 days

Magic Mushrooms 5 - 7 days

Methadone 1 - 2 days

Opiates 5 - 7 days

PCP (Angel Dust) 3 - 8 days

Temazepam 1 - 2 days (longer if injected)

I daren't say how many i have yet to use :oops:

Although i will say that Angel Dust is frickin brilliant 8) :D 8)
 
But they could also take a hair sample and they can detect certain things after months! Unlikley but true.
 
How about Ritalin?? We got some Ritalin from one of my hubby's mate and it was OK stuff even I don't suffer from ADHD........ ;)
