You've got pretty much the same as me. I'd add:

- 1 midi controller / keyboard (I've got a cheap 2 octave jobby that is fine)
- Extra monitor - dual screen makes production loads easier
- Some VSTis - synths, drum machines etc
- Some plug in effects - there are some pretty good ones that come with cubase
- Sample library - for drum hits, sound fx and loops
- Amp & monitors (speakers)

Have fun :)

Cubase a good package?

I've messed around with various Cakewalk products and Traktion. Maybe I just need more time and patience but I wasn't pleased with either. Just installed Fruity Loops but haven't bothered yet.

None of them are anything like the sequencing programs I used back on the Macs in university :(

Whereabouts do you get fruitloops from?

what are the most basics things you need, because I am trying to start from literally scratch.

I'd also seriously look at Abelton. There's versions for both PC and Mac. You can link and synchronise Cubase to Abelton as well as Reason, etc., VST plugins work directly in Abelton. Best of all you can DJ with it too. :D

Check out the fully functioning demo (only saving is disabled and no time limit); www.abelton.com

There's an hour mix in my sig put together with Abelton, it has samples added and extra drums and effects. Give it a whirl. ;)
