Music in Bars

In another thread it was stated that bars are having to switch the music off at midnight.

Is this true??

Or is it just that they shut the doors and terraces etc and play music inside as they have done in years gone by?

For instance in the West End i know that Cheers closes its windows etc at midnight and that The Zinema Bar near Bar M closes its patio doors at midnight, but both still continue indoors.
