Ministry of Sound

Well the former bastion of house music, who held some of the best parties I've ever attended in mylife back in the days on a Friday night at Pacha, have now moved to Wednesday night at Eden, with a speed garage room in the back!

How the mighty have fallen....

Errrr I don't think that's the case  You should have been at Ministry on Saturday night for 9 hours of MAW if you think that is a 'fallen' club  A queue round the corner at 10.30pm, people still trying to get in at 5am.

Ministry have their reasons for not going back to Pacha after last year, and in the meantime if they want to use the Ministry of Sound name (as in the brand name Ministry, not the club night Ministry) then why not, it will probably appeal to the San An brigade who buy the likes of 'Clubbers Guide to Ibiza'.

I'm going to miss Ministry in Ibiza more than anyone this year but I'm sure they'll be back as the Ministry we know and love bigger and better in years to come :D It's no different to when Renaissance left Weds nights at Pacha, had a dismal season at Amnesia but look at what they've got lined up for this summer :D

You forget their adventures (Renaissance) in Privilege...mysterious ways.

San Antonio can lead to money for MOS but it can hurt their image. It has even now hurt their image in my mind.

I heard Masters at Work were really good, but I think the success of the night had more to do with MAW then it had with Ministry as a club. I wonder if they can sustain that sort of success every Saturday night? They used to in the past but nowadays the reality is that only the urban crowd are faithful enough to frequent the club regularly and in numbers.

I never liked Ministry london anyway. Up its own arse, lame security who didn't know the first thing about treating their clientelle correctly. I could never understand how they got to be so massive.

Then I experienced their Friday nights at Pacha and for the first time I saw what they were all about.

Last years Pure Pacha was nowhere near as good as when Ministry used to run it. I'm saddened that they've had to leave and understand they must still have a presence out there in Ibiza...but Eden!!!

Gone is the vision that I saw of an international clubbing brand, that bought together house lovers from all over the world, united in their love for house music. It seems it is to be replaced by the West End after-party with MC What-his-name and DJ Booyaka.

The line-ups are wicked every wk at Ministry now, they've really turned themselves round, I go most weeks, Dimitri at the start of last month was almost as rammed as MAW and I can see JJ & KC next week being heaving this Saturday. The crowd is great, very few tourist types these days cos they all go to Fabric.

Clubbing these days isn't just about the club, Ministry is a global brand, they've still got the club in London, they have Ministry tours all over the world but the name 'Ministry of Sound' is more than that these days, hence the CD releases, the radio, the TV etc etc etc and I can manage to differentiate between Ministry on a Saturday night in London, Ministry on a Wednesday night in Eden and the latest 'Ministry - Clubbers Guide to Trance' or whatever.

I dj'ed In Spain for Ministry In 1997 they were doing the sessions tour. The Whole thing was about branding there was no-one from Ministry actually there apart from the resident Dj's like Frankie Foncett, Smokin Jo and Paul Jackson.
The Promotors were from Manchester and Denmark and they had basically bought the Ministry Brand for X amount of cash and as part of the deal were promoting the New Sessions CDs in Spain. That was the year they moved to Pacha in Ibiza and in in Portugal. I think someone else took over the promoting the year after that. The strongest nights at Pacha are at the weekend and when Ministry lost the Fri they tried the thursday and it didn't work out. Pacha Pure was good on a Fri and as long as they get decent people to play then there is no problem for us.
Obviously the ministry promotors think they can make more cash at Eden.
Thats what the Minsitry brand has done well for years now since 1992 when they started releasing there CD's now there Logo is used on Dj equipment and all sorts of clubbing related stuff.
I havn't been to Ministry of sound in London for years but from what people have said they are still putting on good nights and people are still going and enjoying themselves.

Touristes going to Fabric for Terry Francis? yes yes yes

Tourists go to Fabric cos they believe it to be the 'in' place in London Town, like it used to be Ministry, now the tourists converge on Fabric.

Hence why the crowd there is often really shit and just full of tourists on the pull
